Title: tyre valves
Post by: Danbear79 on November 17, 2014, 10:07:21 am
Right guys. My gti has tyre pressure monitor style valves. I'm picking my new wheels up on Tuesday that don't have these valves, just the standard type. Obviously I'll have a warning light in the dash. Basically I'm asking what my options are? Do I have the tpm valves put on the new wheels, or can I delete the tpms via vagcom so I can just run standard valves without a light. Hopefully that's not too confusing

Isn't tyre pressure monitored via the ABS system?

See this is where I'm unsure. I always thought the abs picked up the signal from the valve. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I would like to know a definite answer

It doesn't work that well IMO. Had a new tyre fitted way to much pressure. It took 15km before the light came on.
