Its a very common problem and this will make interesting reading if your a DIYer.

It's good practice to have the vehicle scanned with VCDS it's the best method to check the fault in question.
Below is the link to members who could possibly help you in obtaining a scan

hi thanks for your help ,
is the module  just for door looking  or   does it do the electric window aswell?
ive seen a post  where  a guy said from the stealers it costs £75 but ive had a quote of  £236 just for the module  ?
i went to a link  from a post made in this  forum  , ive got to find it again so i can ask where he got his module from

The door module works the door lock - the door controller works both the windows and the door.

Best practice is to have it scanned to confirm which item is faulty!

Cheapest place I've found for a New Module is this EBay seller

It's also possible to have a door wiring issue you may not have all these faults but a scan is a must.

No. You have a lock module in each door. If you get the car scanned, you will see in address for each module.

It will give a P code picked up by any scan tool and then go to the Rosstech site and see what they say.

If you check the measuring blocks you see the flag change to show if the lock is operating!
