WooHoo.......VW have done the right thing!

Lowered, proper brakes, and maybe a stage 1 tune and that'll be me done.

............loads the configurator!  :popcornsoda:

Ive been trying to post this for half hour but the forum wont let me .....

It’s real, and it’s spectacular.  The highly anticipated Golf R Variant will be making its global debut in the coming days at this year’s Los Angeles International Auto Show, featuring a 296hp turbocharges and direct injected four cylinder and 6 speed DSG gearbox, capable of returning 34mpg.  European citizens will be able to purchase their own R Variant beginning in the spring of next year, but we’ve yet to hear official word on US market availability.  This is the second time that Volkswagen has shown a sporty Golf Variant with no confirmed plans for US availability in less than 12 months, which we think could be a bit more than just coincidence.

Wagon version of the Golf R sports 300 PS, 4MOTION all-wheel-drive, and a winning combination of practicality and performance

Shares the same high output 2.0-liter TSI® engine as the Golf R, with 300 PS
Drivetrain consists of 6-speed DSG® automatic transmission and 4MOTION® all-wheel-drive system
Car has top track speed of 155 mph, accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds
Capable of seating five, with comparable cargo space to compact SUVs
Car goes on sale in Europe in Spring of 2015

If only it had 7 seats. VW Sharan R??

It looks a bit weird to me. Tiny lights, narrow front wings and a massive rear end. I like everything from the wing mirrors back.

Nice!! I was hoping this would actually happen. With baby no. 2 on the way this would make a good replacement for the Pirelli :happy2:

Wonder whether they'll be giving them away on crazy lease deals like the hatch...

If I was spending that kind of money on a Golf R, I reckon I'd opt for this over the hatchback. I do love an estate. :happy2:

I'm with you if I was buying an estate i would rather it be a rapid diesel with 500lb of torque not a petrol  :chicken:

Cool.

TBH though, if I was in the market for a Fast Petrol Estate, I'd probably look at the Audi S4 Avant.
