So new (to me) 2005 Golf.
Rear wiper doesn't work - it sprays water but doesn't wipe :(
Is this a new wiper motor or something else? I've tried taking the boot trim off to take a look but I got lost after removing the two screws
-
This is now fixed but it turns out none of the lights in the boot work :surprised:
Given the state of the wiring I think it's that!

There's just one light in the boot, on the right hand side.
Take it out, jiggle the wires, check the bulb. Takes a few seconds. I just did a friends, his bulb was put in backward.

I wasn't very clear with my response - the boot interior lights work fine!
It's the boot lid lights - fog and reverse that don't work.

I've had this and the wires (bar one) were fractured in the join at the top of the tailgate. I scalpled my rubbers open which immediately revealed the fault. Electrician friend added extra length and it now works fine.

I bought a replacement harness from VW for £77 and I'm getting it fitted today by an independent vag specialist down the road from me today :happy2:
-
Loom fitted and still no dice :sad1:
Fuse is ok, bulbs look fine. Cleared DTCs with VCDS and still no joy!
Any further suggestions?

Change the stalk.

What was the source of the problem with the wiper? Mine does this some times

My rear wiper sometimes just keeps going without letting up, the only way to stop it is by removing the key from the ignition and starting all over again, seems to reset it...

Relays about f*cked.
As for the original poster, have you checked to see if the bulbs are okay? sounds daft but i was fixing a car the other day which had water in the rear light cluster, whilst digging the bulbs out that were rusted in i remembered it was still plugged into the loom and all of a sudden it sparked and obviously blew a couple of fuses, but it also blew the filament in the other bulbs i hadnt removed on the top row, took me ages to work out why they wouldnt work, just saying if youve been playing with the electrics or somethings been shorting it could affect anything.

Could be, I'll have to do some checks :happy2:
