Hi Guys just wondering if someone could help me I purchased my 2005 mk5 golf gti from a trader (lesson learnt) last month. last week the cambelt snapped I am now in need of an engine as the garage I have sent it to said the engine is basically finished. I decided to sign up to this Gti forum to see if any one could help me source an axx engine. my number is 07858333374 any help would be mostly appreciated.

Sorry to hear that. Can't you take it up with the trader ? Every trader is supposed to warrant their cars for 3 months for major issues.
There is a forum member selling a S3 mk2 engine, lots of potential with that :happy2:
-
Go for a CDL or BYD / BHZ lump - more power & stronger internals. May as well build it better as there is very little difference in price between these on the used market :happy2:
-
Hi guys my next step is to approach the trader hopefully it doesn't get to messy, I was thinking of putting in a s3 engine but wouldnt I have to change the loom?
-
you based in London mate?
-
Based in luton car is currently in hatfield
-
when you need engine?
I have a S3 one.
better engine, stronger, internals = more ponies and tq
AXX is quite weak so if you want another GTI engine I would get BWA as minimum
-
^^^^ this.. if my AXX shat the bed. I would get a better engine.

I need one asap really whats the price? Will I have to change my loom and ecu?

email me. info@mvbrandsonline.co.uk

You'll need the ecu from the corresponding engine. Or get it coded for the different hardware. Turbo and injectors as a minimum, CDL has a different inlet camshaft as well and is the pick of the bunch with better con rods and stronger block. You'll want to remap it anyway .. whether it's the AXX, BWA, BYD or CDL.

Thanks for all of your help guys
Will fling you over an email shortly as Im still at work.

Get a BWA or CDL - they are better (as said on page 1 of this thread)

Probably best to get the ECU and wiring loom from the same car the BWA came from, never hurts to play it safe. That way you'll know it'll bolt in and work.
I'm just glad I have a BWA engine in mine already... And no it's not for sale! :happy2:

Note to others don't buy Gti with axx engine
