Title: ICE setup with crossovers
Post by: keith on November 23, 2014, 08:18:28 am
I bought a set off hertz 165 dieci 2 way component speakers they came with tweeters and crossovers, these are proving to be an issue. I thought i could wire the speakers to run off the oem loom but fitted one and its very faint compared to the oem on the other side so do i need to run them through the crossover for best sound or have i done something wrong ? Anyone offer some advice

You must use the crossover if you are connecting it to an oem system (full range). Alternatives are to use active crossovers either stand alone or integrated in an amplifier or headunit.

You will burn up the tweeter's voice coil if you feed it a full range signal at more than low volume.

its a half bose (audi) with the tuperware subwoofer in the boot, I cant identify the wiring for the tweeters as yet if I rewire I take I would be better running new cables the other tweeters which don't appear to fit in the old ones location.
