Title: Popping......
Post by: Johnny_tro on November 24, 2014, 07:39:00 pm
Can some help. My heated rear window fuse keeps popping.....there does not seem to be any break in the wires coming through the tailgate.

Any ideas? Does something else use the same line? Causing it to pop?

The pop is instant as I put fuse in.

Take the battery off before putting a fuse in, had problems like this before but that did the trick.

You've got a dead short , check the wiring in the tailgate first you may have the 12v supply shorting to earth, in failing that I would connected a bulb up in the fuse box and disconnect the rear screen connector if the light in the fuse box goes out then the screen is at fault, if not try to locate any connection from the fuse box to the rear screen and disconnect if the light goes out then the fault lies from the wiring back ! Hope this helps

So....

1. Check wiring for breaks
2. Disconnect rear screen at tailgate
3. Get a bulb with two wires and insert this direct into fuse box
4. If comes on great news...goes put screen issue?
- if I comes on what should I check?
- if it goes out are you saying replace the rear screen?

. Casing the wires....this is a nightmare surely? Part of the main loom?

If the bulb stays on with the rear screen disconnected then the screen is ok , this is a quick way to check but if the bulb stays on then I would check the wiring but if your unsure what your doing get it booked in to a garage

Maybe connected to the blown fuse issue could be a simple fix or a nightmare but you need to know what your doing before taking it on as you could add to your dramas !!!

A good starting point would be a few details from you:-
Make
Model
Engine code
Gear box code
Year
Fuse location and fuse capacity which is blowing
This would allow the circuit diagram identification
