I was in a 30 zone and doing about 38mph
The officer was pointing the gun at what I thought was me and had his mate next to him...
They made no attempt to stop me though to issue a ticket.
Anyone got a insight if I've been caught ? Never been caught speeding before

If you have been caught you can always say you thought it was a real gun and you were getting away from being shot :driver: :driver:

More than likely yes but hopefully no, it would have been a hand held speed gun probably laser can reach you as soon as you see him, they won't try to stop you just get your reg and speed and send a ticket through post wait 14 working days and if no ticket your good to go!

Ah that's sucks more worried about it affect the price of insurance etc ?

They will usually chase you i belive if it was a speed gun and its letter through the post job when they have a picture from a speed van.. Thats from my experience.. Was it also definetly police with the gun?
I would say ur ok but its only an opinion from my experience of being banned a few times lol

Radar gun got me doing 57mph in a 50mph...just got a letter in the post.
If you've not got any points already, you might get offered a speeding awareness course?

Hopefully the inaccuracy of your speedo will save you a few MPH.
Then you could always ask for evidence, calibration of the gun, the officers competence certificate for it. . .
I got a book written by an ex-copper which suggests ways of getting out of speeding & parking tickets (thankfully never had to use it)

I say you're ok if it's a gun. Don't worry about it though, what's done is done - chalk it up.

what would have been the point of the officers being there if they pointed a speed gun at a speeding car and never sent the driver a NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution) telling them about the offence ? They have to send it within 14 days , not received in 14 days , so about 17 days to be sure of not getting one . I would suggest that you will get one , thats why two officers were there to corroborate the evidence of the gun .

A thought they stop and issue you a ticket there and then, never heard of you receiving something in the post from 2 officers holding a gun may be wrong though

I got two tickets on the same stretch of road a few minutes apart surely this is one speeding offence?

They were actually only Police Support Officors so unsure !

I wouldn't worry about it they probably didn't know how the radar gun worked.

I think evidence can only be obtained by a police officer.
So you could argue that. Don't quote me on it do a bit of research to be 100%

I depends on how they have been trained and what powers their employer has given them . Many speed vans are run by support staff who just park the thing up and really have no further involvement in the matter . PCSO's have been trained to use a speed gun in our area but i cannot remember them issuing tickets , just warning notices .

Chances are, if they didn't pull you, you'll get a "naughty boy" letter through the post telling you how your reckless speeding will kill all small children who venture out beyond the safety of their front doors. My friend had one of those letters.
No photo = little chance of a charge against you as you can easily argue it. As mentioned, get hold of the book about all the grey areas of the law by the ex copper.

Every time you get stopped for speeding by a Police car with a calibrated speedo there is no photo and they prosecute you .
In this situation i would suggest that no ticket will be forthcoming due to PCSO's !

No not as yet! but fingers crossed theres still a week to go so i could receive one!

But on a serious note it's been 2 weeks today and I still haven't received anything ! So fingers crossed I haven't got anything ! :drinking:

As far as I understood; so long as the plod have made reasobable effort to post within 14 days (only proof being that the date of postage is within 14 days) it stands? It may take that bit longer to actually arrive but only normal in unusual circumstances like peak mail, mail strike etc.
