just wondering if anyone has gone stage1+ and how are they finiding it. Looking to get my ED30 mapped, standard atm.
Want to know if they have got a upgraded clutch. / experience and clutch slip on a stock clutch. Also if they have a sports cat/decat connected to their stock cat back.
-
Mine is actually stage 1+
Downpipe & sports cat, panel filter & R-Tech map :happy2:
Mine is mapped to be very very linear, it's fast without aggression. It puts the power down very well, even in the damp weather (Michelin Pilot Supersports help too!)
314bhp & 322lb/ft.
I'll probably fit an uprated HPFP and go back for more of the same :jumpmove:
I fitted a clutch anyway as I'm always unlucky with clutch slip after a map :sad1:
-
I had stage 1+ Apr for a while intake, hpfp and software
Made 330bhp and 340 lb of tourqe, the biggest difference was midrange punch over stage 1
-
HPFP makes a massive difference to mid range.
I'm kicking myself for not getting one :sad1:
-
looks like im saving for HPFP, sports cat, :driver:, are running a upgraded clutch and flywheel????
-
Yeah - mine is in my signature :happy2:
the extra torque from an uprated HPFP will almost certainly give you clutch slip.

I also had APR stage 1+ but couldn't get it to run correctly on my R, car kept throwing an engine light up and loosing power. Was a good excuse to buy a BCS and go stage 2+ Which is where you can feel the real difference mate
On my previous eddy (stage 1) I had clutch slip after 2k so replaced it with oem clutch and flywheel and it ran fine for another 40k until I traded it in

sorted, I've decided to go for loba HPFP, and remove the precept then get it mapped by R-tech. Going to budget for a Helix clutch just incase the stock one starts to slip. Probs go stage 2+ at a later date. :driver:

Should be good for a smidge over 300bhp there. Get a panel filter too - only £35 for a Pipercross filter on eBay
-
My stage 1+ was 331bhp and 337ft lb and yes plan on a clutch, mine went at 1+.
-
I've got a panel filter, was one of my first mods thats leading to this slippery slope of modding lol, what was your running at you stage 1+ @MC71 (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=4913)
-
^^^^ IIRC I had a CIA and BCS Powevalve with 200 cell cat at the time, no other mods. Some tuners make that a stage 2 but at R-Tech it's stage 1.5 due to lack of a IC....
R-Tech 1.5 Linear map on my Eddy.....

I have never thought of buying a panel filter is there any actual gains from doing so?
-
I got around 7bhp more than any other standard car has run at JKM so it must be good for something. Throttle response was definitely better too :happy2:
At my local garage there is a panel filter demo - a fan blowing air through a K&n filter, when you swap the K&N for a paper filter the air flow is much less

Well might as well throw one on then, where did you buy one from mate? Awesome/eBay?
-
It's worth a punt at £35 :drinking:
I bought mine from ebay. Pipercross seem to get the best feedback.
I thought you were Stage 2+ on your R Sug?
-
I am mate so it would be no good, had a blonde moment :happy2:

Bigger turbo is a great upgrade on an R :innocent:

I know just comes at a nice price, think I rather just change car.
