I tried a similar set up last year, it looked good and illumination was spot on butthe resistor heated up to quite a high temp. so downgraded to mtec pure white halogens.

Thanks :happy2: I did read on one listing they recommended the resistor not to be in contact with plastic as they got hot! I'll have a browse of the mtec

Turns out the fog were actually H11's
-
What did you fit in the end v4rley?
-
I brought some typical led bulbs for hb4 fitmeant when I went to fit realised they were h11 :fighting: decided to spend a bit more and try something a bit different so got these beauties:

2014 New 72w 6400lm H8/H9/H11 Cree LED Headlight Conversion Kit Lamp Bulb White
A good bonus I have found so far (finger crossed) is that as they have the little pack to run the bulbs / fans they don't throw a error code on the dash!
Night time fogs only

They look great! You got a link to them?
-
@MateyGuv (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=7486) got them off the bat from China took less than a week and no import duties as they gift all there items.. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this style of bulb :drinking:

They look ace!!
Are you foglights reflectors or projectors?
Might need some of these to match my new Depo's, although I never have an opportunity to use the fog lights!
-
I have projector fogs, yeah really happy with them. I have coded my fogs as DRL so get plenty of use. :happy2:
-
ooh DRLs, now you've tempted me!!!!
Any link for where to get projector fogs? Pretty sure I have reflectors in at the moment. (2006)
-
Not sure where best to buy projector fogs, ebay or breakers yard, my came as standard :P
-
For curiosity sake, does anyone know whether the H7 version would work as the dipped beam in Hella projectors, beam pattern, dazzle etc?
-
Been looking to upgrade my reflector fogs to projectors. Does anyone know if the projector fogs have a different fitment to the hella reflectors at all? If not has anyone had any luck with some HB4 LED bulbs at all?
-
Yes:
Projector = H11
Reflector = HB4 /9006
The different fitment means not only different way the bulb fits the fog light bulb holder but also a different electrical connector
-
Sorry I meant the foglamp unit - Is it possibly to do a direct swap for a projector fog lamp unit if I've got reflectors fitted at the moment i.e. the mounting points in the same position etc? Is there an adaptor which allows for a HB4 to H11 connection if the foglamp units can be changed over too?
Thanks

IIRC the Gti fogs are different to other dogs so make sure you get the right fogs for the bumper you have but they will fit in the same location.
You will need an adaptor for the connections though
I didn't want to cut anything so searched eBay till I found this.....
9006 to H11 Headlights Conversion Pigtail Connector Wiring Harness Plug
Copy and paste above and it'll show up cost about £10 to my door from USA - I bought from username integra9006hid. Genuine superseal waterproof connectors and well made bit of kit - plug and play :happy2:
-
Awesome thanks!
Had a look on autobulbs and HID-Direct where they have some LED versions which aren't apparently road legal.... Im guessing its because of the reflector unit though :/.
Not sure whether its better and safer to just upgrade the halogen bulbs in there at the moment maybe....
-
Have a look at my and @v4rley (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6697) build thread as we both have projectors with Cree Gen3 LED bulbs and they are kinda awesome!
-
Thanks man will do! Cheers for the advice! :)
