Title: DSG Paddle shift extension
Post by: numec on December 03, 2014, 11:43:48 am
Anyone use this type of paddle shift extension? Share any feedback please

http://www.amazon.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-ALUMINIUM-PADDLE-EXTENSION-PASSAT/dp/B00P5DI7P2/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1417606838&sr=1-2&keywords=paddle+shift+golf+gti

Found them cheaper in ebay with other colors too but similar design and material.
Had the CF type last time, so just looking for other alternative.

I have the aluminium version that I bought off of eBay, took a few weeks to arrive but are good quality and fit nicely on the steering wheel.

I fitted the S2T paddles - but more work than the stick on ones but was what I wanted. Only negative point is that the + and - is no longer illuminated. I got the black ones but I think silver ones were available. There's a picture near the end of this page on my build -

Are the paddles easy to replace? The ones one ours are worn so the white plastic shows through and as a minimum I want to just get new std ones fitted. Any more info on the Seat ones pls??

I'm hoping to have similar aluminium paddles to those in your link, maybe in a couple of weeks. Will be less than half that price though! :scared:

It feels well made, no burrs on the aluminium and once stuck to the existing paddle it feels nice  and strong (we drove to Cornwall and back in September from Kent and had no issues).
I have found the extended length allows easier shifting with your hands positioned higher or lower on the steering wheel.

I have these:

http://www.doubleapex.co/collections/mkv-golf-gti-rabbit/products/vw-dsg-paddle-shifters

they are spot on - a bit pricey and a faff to fit because they replace the existing plastic rather than just sticking on but they are great in terms of look and quality.
