Title: H.I.Ds and wipers

Hi all need some help from the masses ...just fitted a HID kit to my gti and the lights work fine after some fiddling but its killed my front wipers  :scared:..the washer jets work but no wipers ...and even tho the light are on auto they stay on all the time in that setting ...i have check the wiper fuses and there fine ..any ideas guys would be cool ..or im going to have to take it to VW not cool !!thanks guys

if its an aftermarket HID kit, its killed your wipers because of feedback up the LIN bus system. you've got to replace the wiper motor assembly, throw away the crappy HID kit you put in there and either go OEM or don't bother at all.

I read on here somewhere, that an independent earth to the block prevents the feedback that blows the wiper motor....just something I read....

I've seen that on here as well, but not sure how true it is....

With your bonnet open the wipers will not function anyway

So easiest thing to do is unplug your HIDs (just unplug the ballasts) and test...

Also HID kits are very stupid.
