Title: graffiti removal
Post by: galaxie500 on December 08, 2014, 03:50:41 pm
Hello guys
A pal's white Mercedes van has been 'tagged' with blue spray paint on a side panel by some little toe rag.Could I use a high cut compound to remove it using a DA or should I utilise something else (like a shotgun if I ever see the little sh%t!) :happy2:
Many thanks in advance

Depends on the type of paint.

Try using a wax believe it or not.

If it's cellulose
avoid leaving it on trims though like unpainted side skirts etc

It's a plain white van, no trim close to the graffiti so I'll try some Tardis and then go at it with some wax. How does that work Jay?

Would like to just state I have done this before I saw the video  :signLOL: :signLOL:
If that doesn't work then you can always use a razor blade and wet sanding or machine correction.. as always start with least aggressive manner of removal.

Hi Jay.
Which Carnuba heavy wax would potentially dissolve the paint? ( presuming it is cellulose as you said)
Anything I can buy from Halfords - a Meguiars product for instance that you recommend?
Thanks.

I guess that'll do it!
Thanks. I've not seen that one in the local Halfords. I'm gonna get me some!

I dunno if it's going to be any good, only a suggestion.  :happy2:

Seeing as Carnauba seems to be the holy grail amongst wax aficionados and Meguiars stuff is generally OK, I think I'll take a punt.
Thanks Jay

I finally got around to graffiti removal from my pal's white Merc van and thanks to all who gave their suggestions.
I simply used a Sonus defect remover on a microfibre cloth and it disappeared easily!
Thanks fellas!

Plus 1 for autosmart tardis used sparingly. I just removed black go faster stripes from my wing mirror that someone had kindly left me.  :fighting:

Just a spray of tardis on a microfibre cloth and then buffed off (took a fair bit of gentle rubbing - if you're getting nowhere whilst being patient you need a bit more tardis) the stubborn stain and finished by cleaning the wing mirror with APC and QD. Job's a gud'un
