Title: MK5 GT TDI (2005) HID auto levelling sensors
Post by: JeffyMcOwlson on December 09, 2014, 11:57:49 pm
Gents,

quick question, do MK5 GTI HID/ Xenon auto levelling sensors fit on GT TDI's? More specifically, GT TDI's that didn't have xenons from factory?

Basically I'm in the process of carrying out the work required to fit fully legal/ MOT passing HID's to my 2005 GT TDI and need to know what auto levelling sensors I can get away with. I assume my Halogen fitted GT TDI will still have mounting points on the suspension for sensors?

You don't need automatic headlight levelling to pass an MOT.

To answer your question ,the mounting points are already on the suspension..
You need 2 sensors ,the loom and a module
Kufatec do a kit or you can buy parts seperate from places like carsystems or go to a breakers.
I done this mod earlier this year along with headlamp washers.

Any help needed ,use search or gimme a pm and I can Run you through it.

Marko, thanks so much for the swift response and really helpful info!!

Yeah I've already sussed most of the install out, using this forum and VW vortex. I have already acquired a lot of the bits I need.

So far, I have the GTI xenon projector headlights installed on the car, using the kufatec 10-12 pin adapter cables. They are working fine (aside from a dodgy O/S indicator connector, which I'm either gonna have to repair myself or get a replacement headlight unit from supplier - they are the DEPO D2S clone units from Eurowagens). Only thing I've not done yet is connect the yellow wire to CECM for bi-xenon/ full beam.

I have also purchased the headlight control module (Part No. 1TO 907 357). So yeah, I think all I need now is the two suspension sensors, wiring loom for it all and capability of coding it all!

I'm lucky, in the fact that my golf already had headlight washers fitted, so that's one less thing to worry about!

Thanks again mate, I'll probably shoot you a PM in a bit (can't remember whether I need a few more posts first!?).
