Hi guys I'm thinking of putting bwa engine into me 05 mk5 Gti me original engine code is Axx will the bwa work??
-
yes, without any issues, straight swap :happy2:
-
Do I need to change ecu or anything? So the bwa definitely goes in and I won't have any problem trying to get it starting? Do I not need loom ecu or anything considering it is a diff engine code? Have you done this before? Thanks for your reply

Only difference is the compression ratio, so no need to change anything but the engine.
I am running a cupra 245bhp BWJ engine in my AXX GTI with AXX ECU, to establish my credentials

That's great thanks for your help! Do I need to swap anything from my Axx engine into the bwa as in injectors or anything? Can u send your email address as it would be great if I could get some more info from you. Thanks very much

all but compression ratio is the same

Do I need to change crank sensor from my engine map sensor or anythin or just plug and play? I've heard I need to change fuel lines as the lines to my hpfp one is a banjo bolt and on the bwa engine the fuel line to hpfp is a hose

No

hpfp is diff

hpfp is diff
Use your old HPFP if you like, only the connector is different then (banjo instead of later connection). The rest of it - mounting, piston, outlet & capability are all the same :happy2:

Is all wiring the same also the same? I have sourced a bwa engine but the lad said some wiring may have to be relocated? Is this true? Thanks for your reply much appreciated
-
can I ask why you want to change to the BWA ?

Less susceptible to cam chain and cam follower problems

I thought they was all the same though? apart from compression rating

Different cam, different Pistons, probably some other tweaks elsewhere. . .
Different engine code signifies differences. .

fair enough :happy2:

I'm finding it hard to get axx engine over here so bwa is most common available? Has anyone put a bwa in place of Axx and can give me some info
-
Just wondering if the axx Bwa swap worked as have mine to do cheers guys
