Do I need anything else in order to fit a mfsw to my 2005 gti DSG? I currently have a flat bottom gti wheel without paddles and highline display. Cheers
-
You will need a new steering wheel control module as well.
-
Have you seen my advert in the for sale section?
Sorry, thought you were looking to buy!

Yes i have fitted DSG MFSW and works perfectly fine. Just make sure you have VCDS to code the control module.
If you do a bit of searching, you will find that they are produced by FAW who make parts for VW asian market.

Thanks again. I'm looking at a mfsw from a 2009 manual car and want to fit a pair of genuine paddles to it. Hopefully the wheel will be ok for this?
-
Hello again, more questions........ Will I need to replace the slip ring and airbag harness? Also what needs coding in vcds? Cheers.
-
I posted this in another thread earlier...
It depends which slip ring you have now. A quick way to tell is to scan with vcds and determine you existing steering wheel controller part number.
Use the Ross tech link above to see which slip ring that controller uses.
The CH controller uses a type 2 slip ring.

You will probably need to change the airbag harness too. I did when I did mine.

You don't need a CH controller to use a mk5 MFSW, that's for putting a mk6 wheel on a mk5
-
Oh dear...... Anybody want a ch controller? What exactly will I need then?
-
If you have a CH then use it, but there are loads of variants that could be used..AQ, BD etc. pretty much all highline type two ones listed in the Ross Tech wiki page.
-
There is a list of the controllers on Ross Tech Wiki tells your exactly what each controller supports and which slip ring etc you would need. :)

Here you go just found it :) http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions

Thanks for that mate. Just scanned my car and got the following info -
Address 16: Steering wheel Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl
Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 F HW: 1K0 953 549 F
Component: Lenksäulenmodul 521 0050
Coding: 0010042
Shop #: WSC 01279 785 00200

How do you find out what slip ring i have currently? Is it just a matter of taking it out?
Looks like i'll be needing a airbag harness aswell then.....
According to the ross tech info i've got a type 2 slip ring.
1K0-953-549-F Type 2 SW 0050 Midline - will the ch controller be highline and what will this give me extra?
