Title: RNS 510 Reoccuring Problem
Post by: markevo6 on December 14, 2014, 12:04:17 pm
Firstly here is the problem :

Head unit screen is stuck on the VW / Nav screen , then reboots itself over & over .

This first happened a year ago and I googled then tried various things , none of which worked so just left it . One day whilst driving along it just came back on , to a talk show and scared the crap outta me as my brain thought someone was hiding in the boot talking to me lol - within seconds I realised the radio was back on .

Its been fine since, but I ejected the dvd , and from then on left it switched on as it would come /on & off with the ignition .

Fast Forward 6 months , went for a MOT , all was fine , left MOT , problem is back - returned and asked person who was sat in the car did they fiddle with the stereo as its now not working ,
and was told no . Seems strange it was fine now it isn't .

So , I'm now waiting ( impatiently ) for it to magically come back on and scare me to death , or hopefully someone will be able to shred some light on this .

Thanks in advance for all the good advice I'm gonna get , such as "  buy my new head unit "  lol or " its definitely broken , until it comes back on "  :signLOL:

Reinstall a good firmware. That should do the trick if there's nothing wrong with your HU.

just as a side thing to try, have you tried removing the earth from the battery and putting it back on? see if that jolts it to life?

Think your RNS is buggered.

try resetting it by holding in the three buttons at once (star button plus two small arrow buttons?)
