Had a few issues with this car, EGR was playing up so changed that, the the anti shudder valve went replaced that, it had a new cambelt and waterpump and a vw specialists 3 weeks ago there is no fault codes showing on either generic or vagcom scans.
Its the BKD 140 diesel lump, done just shy of 100,000 , car is immaculate inside and out, was serviced only 2000 miles ago only other issue it has is the usual whiny turbo but it drives and pulls well.
Steady cruising upto 70mph with appropriate gear changes around 2500-3000 up into 6th on dual carriageways/a roads, also driven around town and can never seem to get it above 42mpg on the trip computer. Nail the arse out of it and ive had it as low as 23mpg on the display, Im getting around 120 - 130 miles to £20, Diesel is £1.20 a litre round here.
Anything worth checking/changing?

If you've got access to VCDS you need to check your torsion values

Was it the same before the cam belt change

Where do i get the full VCDS for a canbus car? I can find the non canbus one everywhere?! and how much?
Its always been a bit crap on fuel to be honest so dont think its cambelt related.

i have a gt sport 140, and i think the worst its ever been is 42mpg, best is 56mpg, but i really drove steady to get that, it was painful.

I average about 44 - 45 mpg out my DSG Jetta BKD 140

Ive seen upto 44mpg today, cruising on an a road, doesnt really get much above that unless i get on a motorway and then reset it and sit at 60 - 70 in 6th then it may touch 50mpg but its painful getting there. Need to get full VCDS or someone to check the logs on it if anyones around Leicestershire that wouldnt mind id pay for their time :)
