Hi
recently bought a MK5 and this already had the unit installed. I'm pretty sure its model B
What is the most recent firmware for model B? Could someone please tell me the number
I tried a 4Gb and 8Gb SD card and both have not worked, when reading I've noticed after update it will support up to 32GB ?
Thanks
Jonathan

You can safely upgrade to FW3810 modified by Josi. Knowledge people from the www.gpsunderground.com community state that you can upgrade to FW5238 modified version. I never tested it myself when I had a B version RNS-510, though.

Thank you for the reply, do you know if FW3810 has the battery drain issue ?

If your CAN is old I think it has. If so, you can try this one: http://www.rnsfirmware.com/firmware-4020-for-older-european-rns510-units/ (http://www.rnsfirmware.com/firmware-4020-for-older-european-rns510-units/).

Yes, that should be one of the best firmwares for your RNS-510.

Thanks Guys, i ended up installing 3810 and its worked spot on, can now use my 32 GB SD card  couldn't find V12 for maps, have managed to download V11 though

Have you searched for the V12 maps in torrent search engines? I got mine from Pirate Bay before it was closed. Should be available in the new Pirate Bay site now.

I couldn't find it at all, only V11.... Would i need to install 3810 again to wipe V11 before i installed V12 or can you just install maps over the top of current on installed ?
Also can you get speed camera warnings etc ?
Many Thanks

You can just insert a DVD with newer maps that after a while the RNS-510 will ask if you want it to copy the maps or just use the DVD instead. After choosing to copy the maps it will take around 1h to finish the process. In the end it will inform that you can eject the DVD.
If you have POI with speed cameras (included in the maps version or added afterwards) the only warning you get is visual, by looking to the map view, after you select the corresponding symbol to show in the map setup menu.

Ah brilliant, ill keep my eye out for a torrent version of V12..... I don't know if my V11 has POI preinstalled. When i click extras then POI it pops up "Please Wait" it then stayed on this for my hour journey and and i could not use the maps.
Do you know of an add on for POI?
Many Thanks for you help

I use a Windows application called POInspect0r to make a file that I can insert in the RNS-510 via SD card. I paid the license to remove the limit of POI per file.
I get updated POI files for TomTom or other common GPS brands from a site dedicated to collect all speed cameras locations in my country. I use POInspect0r to convert a TomTom file to a RNS-510 compatible file.

I searched for cd_8195 torrent and found a good one which downloaded in 25 minutes as there were plenty of seeds.
