When at a standstill in N my 2005 gti dsg will 'pop' occasionally while ticking over. If I knock it into D with my foot on the brake it ticks over fine..... Any ideas? Checked the usual pcv and all seems OK?

possibly spark plug(s) need cleaned/replaced?
I would have said coil pack is maybe on its way out, but these usually show a misfire under load, as opposed to when idling.
A scan with VCDS may highlight a misfire

Had mine scanned yesterday I have misfire on cylinder 2 on idle but when under load etc it's fine misfire disappears gonna change plugs before coil pack!

Very common on these. Either dirty valves & intake tract or an injector failing :sad1:

Whats the best way of cleaning the intake system and valves? Are we talking a head off job? :sad1:

Inlet manifold off and manual cleaning. Plenty of DIY guides on other forums. It takes a long time as the carbon is hard baked on

Idle control valve was faulty on the one I was buying from a garage and they had already diagnosed the fault to the idle control valve which now been replaced and idling fine. Something to thing about along with plugs coils packs etc.
