Hi All,
Ive fitted a reverse camera today, Red wire to 12v live, Black cable to ground yellow wire to reverse trigger. Connected the long coaxial cable to back of rns, programmed using VCDS, reboot rns, closed all doors and the boot, put in reverse, Camera flips out but nothing on the display.
Tried another coaxial cable but still the same. Checked voltage on the yellow wire at the badge end and theres 12v when in reverse.
What could be the problem?
I did the exact same setup on my old golf last year and that worked fine. Only thing different on this setup is I have an old canbus and firmware 3810 modified .
Any suggestions would be really appreciated

Anyone? Could it be because my canbus is old?

You must have one of the cables not well connected or some VCDS coding left to do.
Does any image appear? Like black, for instance, or the RNS-510 doesn't change anything?

The rns doesn't change at all. The reverse camera box is checked in navigation control module and restarted the rns but still nothing changes when put in reverse

had another look today, i disconnected the fiscon quad connector and connected the rns 510 directly to the factory quad lock, still no luck. In advanced measuring blocks on vcds it shows ON for reverse signal but on the secret menu on the can section reverse always shows as off even when engaged in reverse. this is what got me thinking maybe the canbus is old and not communicating properly with the RNS 510.
also, checked the RNS510 part number and its a 3C0 035 680 C, are these compatible with Golf's as my last one was a 1T0 035 680

if you have firmware to prevent batter drain the camera won't work
