Not exactly a new member, but as most of you will probably not remember me, I thought an introduction is in order.
I was a forum regular from its inception to the beginning of 2010. After spending 5 long years in the Middle East with a Mk6 GTI to keep me company, I have decided that the time is right to return to the UK, hopefully never to leave again. Its great to see the forum thriving with many new members as well as familiar faces as I can see a lot of the old regulars are still around like Red Robin, Hurdy, Stealthwolf, MatEd30 and others - hi guys! - although some like PhilMcavity (questionable alias!) who had a lovely red Mk5 Golf GTI seems to have left.
I've still got a couple of trips left to finalise things in the Middle East, so as soon as I am free, I will be bringing my Edition 30 out of long term storage (cost a me a fortune to store over the past 4 1/2 years). There are many things to do on the car listed below, so I'm hoping to have it roadworthy by the time GTI International comes round!
1. Engine Oil, DSG Oil, Filter and Spark Plugs + Cambelt, Tensioner and Water Pump Service
2. Resolve lean fuelling issue from 2010 (!) / REVO Stage 2+ Issue via JKM, REVO - there is a thread on this from 2010.
3. VWR Cup Edition Front and Rear Suspension Upgrade Kit
4. VWR Big Brake Upgrade Kit - unless someone can point me towards a better option
5. Purchase a set of BBS Super RS Alloys
6. Refurbish BBS CH alloys
7. Tracking, balancing and properly setting up handling of the car.
The car has 42k miles on the clock and will be used as a weekend car only.

Welcome back. Do you have any pics ?
-
Yes... will have to dig them out as I have 60 boxes shipped from Qatar (where I spent my final year - 4 1/2 years in Saudi) in my front living room and not quite sure where that USB drive with the pics is! My signature still shows the Mk6 GTI I had over there - pictured in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

Hello mate. Long time no see. :notworthy:

I nearly went to work in Dubai last month, was eyeing up cars before a house. Fancied a Rausch Mustang along Jumeraih beach...

Welcome back!!!

Wow... seems so long ago when I was there last. :surprised:

Good to see you back
Liking the Union Flag avatar... it means a lot when you've been abroad for a while. This country has a lot going for it, but that only becomes clear when looking from the outside in.

Glad to see you're still around! There was no way I could have sold my Edition 30, so storage was the only option, albeit expensive at over £5000 since June 2010!!

We'll they are still holding a decent value, especially ones that have been cherished :happy2:

I've noticed that they are holding their prices... Will hopefully see you and Phylis at some point this year - I can't wait to get the Ed30 back on the road. :driver:

welcome back :-)

Thanks john_o... really great to see some of the older members still around as I honestly thought that most had probably left by now. Very happy to see that the forum is also thriving... shame that stevep has left though, although he did a sterling job running the site.
