Has anyone bought these? How do they compare to the Depo and Hella ones? Thanks

I asked the seller about these when I had my old Gti, and he wouldn't tell me who they were made by or any other info. You're covered by PayPal and eBay, but be wary!
-
The other half bought these for me for Christmas. We did have an issue with one of the indicators as the connection was not very good and the indicator wouldn't work, tweaked them and now they are fine and look great IMO.

It's like anything, if you want something, pays the price or, buy a cheaper one but be prepared for there to be little snags here and there.

Yes you can still use a standard bulb.

Thank you.
I ask because I have broken my adjuster in one of my head lamps, so instead of replacing one I may go for a pair of these or simular.

Do these still raise and lower using the controls in the car?
-
they are the same lights i have, i bought them off the same guy. Decent guys its two brothers that sell the parts
i collected it from them and they are based in bradford, they have got alot of replica parts there for mk5 and mk6 golfs.
sidelights is in the high beam reflector not next to the indicator
no motors only manual adjustment via headlight screws
but it has xenon shutters linked to halogen high beam which raises the shutter in the projector side when you flash

Lots of people have used the kit from the link I posted and had no issues. Just make sure someone can code it in vcds xenons without shutter installed

Ive got MTEC halogens and the light output is terrible, i had to use my high beam 90% of the time. Im actually not going to drive in the dark until my hids arrive :scared: and first i tried doing it with the bumper off halfway but you will save yourself alot of time if you just take the whole thing off which i ended up doing :happy2:
-
Oh I have mtec superwhite bulbs haha. Do you know if hids are easy to fit?
What once have you brought, sorry for all the question they do look loverly fitted?

Ive bought some 35w 6k ones of hids direct. I havent fitted them yet but will update you with the details. Mtecs do look nice but they're just not suitable for projector lights. HIDS are easy to fit you just need to wire it up and find a suitable place to put the ballasts which in our case would be the bottom of our headlights.
-
Impulse buy now looking on hid direct website!
-
Did you get the 35w canbus pro or 35w canbus slim?☺

Yours should be fine! the whole bumper must come off that will save you hours. Mine was the top t25 that holds the top of the light in. make sure you spray the screws with d40 and let it sink in and dry them then remove these and make sure you don't ruin the screw heads as they may be rusting. Let us know if you have any problems! we did two cars in 2 days lool! well a few hours. 5k will look very good! 10 k is over the top i agreehahah!

Read hids can cause problems and I don't know how to fit them properly?
HIDs are very simple bud resistors go into each other and then into the actual h7 connector and then a final wire into the ballast this is then sticks to the bottom of the depo unit! check my uploaded pic ill upload more to show you the difference between normal and HID! easy to fit!

Your lights look fantastic, what k there these?
I just wired the hids up and now cutting a whole in the cap to run the wires though but unfortunately I need to do the 6 o clock mod but seem straight forward to do.
Im just getting all the tools together to fit the lights so the main tools I need for removimg the heads and bumper are T25 and T30 torx screw i have all the other basic tools?
Thanks for the help :happy2:

Thanks pal! Mine are 10k went all out YOLO lol! Yeah you can drill a hole into but i mean we went for the push fit so just locked the cap as far as it went... Yeah basically tools really grill off 4 screws, bumper underneath 10 screws, arches 8 screws and then pull at both ends.
-
Fitted everything yesterday took me 3 hours start to finish no problem at all, you don't even need to remove the bumper just take out the grill and center torx screws and then both sides in the wheel arches and see can get your hand in the remove the bottom bolt on the head light, easy peasy!
Really happy with my 5000k hids they make my side lights and make beam look dull even though they are super white mtec bulbs.
Thank you all the help

Brilliant pal! I mean we did that half bumper removal but it was effort for no reason the second car we did we fitted them in under 1 hour so I mean its down to the time you have on your hand. Plus did you slide the bumper back in properly ?

Looking good chaps!!
I am having some issues with bumper alignment - I removed the front bumper to fit my Depo's, but seem to have some gaps that never existed before with the standard headlights.
I'll try to get some pictures up later - anybody else find they have increased gaps around the bottom of the headlights and also where the bottom left corner of the headlights meets the bumper?
I removed the bumper and adjusted the lights, put the bumper back on but it's still not right. The bumper lines up perfectly with the wings though as do all the screws.
Also just a side point, I bought a canbus kit but still needed to code for Xenon's without shutter to make the HIDs both work (the drivers side used to go out after 30 seconds) - this is bit 4 in byte 3 in option menu 9 Central Convenience.
Thanks

I was thinking the same both me and Samiul11 have had the same problem with the bumper, it slides in perfectly. But the gap seems unusual, will check it out once the weather is better but I think its the fact you probably haven't assessed that corner that much and it looks out of place all of a sudden. But do give it a tug and see if it pushes further on! We haven't coded it in yet and make sure you do!

Nice! Yeah everyone probably spots the plate every GTI owner usually nods at others in respect haha
-
Yeah to be fair I have never had such a close look before so not sure what it looked like before.
Coding is a must - without it the drivers side wouldn't say on. I am inclined to say that you don't need to spend the extra money on a Canbus compatible kit and can get away with a cheaper non-canbus kit and coding the car as a stated (a few on here have done just that for quite some time).
-

I went for the Canbus kit it was £40 with 2 yr warranty. I would not personally avoid £10 for stupid lights on the dash, and without the coding the system will work. On various models the lights tend to flicker, however, it isn't essential as my 2007 model doesn't suffer from any issues. And yeah I am going to look into this bumper alignment and see if I can adjust it more upload pictures of yours and i will too then we can compare!
-
Oh right, mine did not work without the coding and are canbus compatible! Oh well.
Yeah will try and take some snaps tomorrow - but I fear there is nothing that can be done as there no play in the bumper at all.
The only thing I can think of is tightening the screws that meet with the wing, by the the wheels.

Thats true ! Im going to try that tommorow and see if it makes a difference and o! Probably depends on the type of HID.

Can I buy Depos and fit genuine ballast, igniter and xenon bulb to it?
Like, does it have the structure to hold the bulb/igniter and have cables/connectors for the igniter/ballast?
-
Genuine bulbs are D2S, not sure they will fit into the H7 socket.

That one takes D2S and H7 and is for RHD.
Would this work with standard xenon D2S/Igniter/Ballast? I've tried asking the seller, but no response yet.

Depends on the type of Depo pal! The supplier will tell you as some take D2S and need VAGCOM coding. The pair on ebay going for £230 are d2s but apparently the sidelight positioning is not the same its the same as the halogen projector.

I haven't but I have a canbus kit and all fine d

Turn on the lights and see what happens mate - in my case, the passenger light worked but the drivers side went out after a couple of seconds.
Coding cured it, now it always perfectly.

Anyone found a set that as the sidelights where the indicators are? Could you possibly post up a link? :P

What is the difference between trupart and depo? Quality wise?
-
Hi Mate,
Trupart are distributors for Depo, so they are identical. I verified this with Trupart and have evidence on the packaging of my lights, i.e. where Depo sent to Trupart and Trupart direct to me.
Thanks
