Hi, I've got a low milage(35k) 05 gti with the AXX engine. At the moment I've fitted a k&n typhoon cais, and a stage 1 bluefin.
I know a lot of people will knock, the bluefin, but ive been impressed with it for the cost and accessibility.
My question is, I've got a ebay cheapy down pipe and sports cat to fit, will it still be ok on a stage 1 map, or will a stage 2 map make a significant difference? Thanks, Richard.

Staying stage 1 would be fine but a map tweak would obviously see you get the best out of it.
The difference between your current map and a stage 2 would be noticeable but not huge, You'd probably see another 5-10bhp and probably the same for torque but it pulls better at the top of the rev range.
Do you plan on going to stage 2+ or more at some point? If you plan on modding further then just leave it until you've done more (like I am) to save paying for another map. If you plan to leave it how it is then it would worth doing at some point.

At present your car is probably running no more than 235-240 bhp + 270 lbft , bluefins aren't very good-there very spikey and massively over fuelled, you'd be best off getting a 3" sportcat downpipe and getting it tuned at R-tech and you'll end up with a much more powerful smoother car .....

Get shot of the Blufin ASAP, proper kak map.
Yeap im bound to say R-Tech but there's nothing wrong with a REVO linear Stage 1 and 2 maps so consider that option too.
The biggest jump in power is always from stock to Stage 1, after that it's a case of ever increasing amounts of money for ever decreasing increases in power.
Stage 2 is a wee bit of an increase whereas stage 2+ with a Intercooloer, HPFP and decent low cell (or no cat) TBE is where the magic happens and the true potentail of your car is revealed. A map will only be as good as the hardware you add so buy quality items and you'll not go far wrong.

Hmmm... Thanks for the replys guys, theres food for thought.
I think at the moment i may just fit the down pipe and leave it at that for now... I don't want to get too carried away with things again(spent over 15k on my last car), I'm going to be keeping the golf as a daily driver, and can afford little time and money on it to modify, hence why I went for bluefin. I originally had the car booked in for a revo map at a local seat dealer, but the wanted the car all day and I couldn't justify leaving it with them all day, especially with someone that I don't know anything about. Bluefin seemed like a solid, reliable, if unspectacular, alternative that could be done on the drive in 10 mins.
