Devon to Essex, nearly 300 miles, fully loaded car, stuck at the speed limits the whole way and used just over half a tank of Tescos finest. Who needs a diesel?!
-
Would of been about 60 in a tdi
-
I had about the same economy when I did the same sort of trip. :happy2: 20mpg difference for loads more fun when the roads get twisty is a good trade-off in my opinion... :P
-
I use half a tank going from torquay, Devon to saffron walden, Essex :)
-
I'd be happy with 300 miles from a tank :driver:
-
700 miles ,or something is wrong, from me 140 tdi

can still have fun driving an oil burner .. only a bit slower

Wow the best I've seen in mine is 32 mpg.
-
My K03 GTI used to do 40+mpg all the time. Bloody ed30 only good for about 37-38mpg :sad1:
-
We have both a 140gt and a Gti and as great as the Gt is its no Gti im affraid  wifes Gt does 550 miles mostly town driving and Gti does 330 miles to average tank but worth every penny, id sell the 140 before the Gti

Is your foot made from feathers?

I'd love a gti but I do 40 miles a day to & from work & loads of miles with a bike rack & bike on the back so a gt will have to do ... For now

Was thinking the same I average 30mpg on a sensible day in my Gti

When I'm doing a boring motorway run in traffic, I just take it steady and the figures just. . . Happen :ashamed:
Could only get 40mpg in the summer tbh, my ed30 is doing about 33-35mpg on a gentle motorway run in the winter :sad1:

Fair enough, I only do 1.5 mile journeys to work and back so by the time I'm let loose on the big roads I'm to frustrated to go slowly. :driver:
-
I've seen 39.9 mpg from sunderland to York ,no more than 70 mph
-
is there something wrong with me? i only get an average of 25mpg in my eddy (can't resist the power) 30 tops if i behave. mostly A road commute, couple of roundabouts, hardly any traffic 15 miles each way.

You've got the same problem I do, lead feet.
I get between 22mpg and 25mpg avg in my stage 1 k03 gti. I'm going stage 2+ as well soon so its only going to get worse :driver:
The difference between driving smoothly between 60 - 70 and driving between 80 - 90 with a few bursts is huge for economy.

I'll second that, if I drive motorway at 80 - 90km/hr I can get around 40+ mpg on my K03 GTI after about 70 miles.
Although I typically get 28mpg per tank standard city driving.
