Title: Cost of brake pads
Post by: Chedburn on January 05, 2015, 12:33:45 pm
Hi everyone, sorry for another brake pad thread.

I've been quoted almost  £200 to replace my front and rear pads (Genuine) at my local VW specialist. Is this about the right price?

Also should I look at upgrading the pads from OEM, my GTI is stock (For now) and no track use.

Cheers, any help appreciated!

Probably is for a dealer.
I paid £46 for new discs and pads from ECP in november, when they were doing thier 50% discount promotion.
If your car is unmodified, then I would stick to the original disc/pad combo.

Cheers for the info! I don't suppose you know the part numbers for the genuine pads?

A set of Pagid or Eicher pads from Euro Car Parts is about £70 in total (front and rear) depending on if you have wear sensors. No need to pay over the top for OEM pads when they're almost the exact same thing you'll get for a lot less cash.
