Going to get one, which is best and why such massive difference in price between the models? Am I a cheapstake looking at the basic GoPro for £95?
-
£100 one you can't attach a screen to it only 5mgp camera if am right also can't attach another battery lots of differences all I can say is I used to have gopro black 3+ was fantastic which now would be there 4 black + pretty much great piece of kit 1 problem gets expensive by time you buy all the other bits and bobs with it lol

^^^^ WOW, that's bloody cheap. Seems to come with a load of attachments too, I will look into that one. Like most gadgets I own I'll probably only use it twice.
:happy2:

If that is the case just get the cheapest full HD one you can find... you dont need the wifi mumbo jumbo and screen thingy-ma-bob!

I used that cheap one on my gixxer600 at brands hatch and quality was brilliant what let it down is the mount wobbled at speed so video was useless but at low speed or with adaption to the cheap mount be a fantastic camera for the money

To compound the effects of a poor mount is the technology used in the camera. It's a bit technical but it's CMOS vs CCD which are the two types of digital image sensors. CMOS gives that wobbly jelly effect when vibrating. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it as CCD is very rare in cameras these days. Higher frame rates do help though.
-
Would rigging some sort of spring-based mount help with vibrations, effectively make a mini-suspension set-up for a camera platform?
-
You can buy some semi professional "elastic band" style mounts off eBay or Amazon if I remember correctly.
-
The gopro mounts have a little rubber damper to stop creaks through the mic and vibrations/ slight movement
I'll get a pic after work if I remember.

I bit the bullet and got a gopro 4 black buy my main use is to attach it to my quadcopter for videos, hopfully test it this weekend

I got the £100 as a gift for Christmas, really good when I'm on the bike. Not used it on the car yet. Only issue is that you can't see where the camera is pointing, so I might invest in a screen.
Weirdly I bought my brother a cheap one Sj4000 or something, was around £30 and you get all the mounts, plus it has a screen on the back.
Both seem pretty identical video quality wise, though couldn't vouch for reliability and after sale support from the Chinese special..

can this be mounted internally (inside the car) at all?

I've got a 4 silver and it's awesome.
The screen makes setting it up so much easier.
Couldn't see benifits of a black for me due to not going to be filming in 4k

What about summat like this?

That's probably the RRP and it may be available cheaper elsewhere...

I've just got an SJ4000 WiFi, cost just under £80 with a full set of mounts and 2 batteries. Reason i went for it over a GoPro was because for an equivalent price GoPro, you can't change the battery (if you are out and about and its runs out) and also due to the lack of screen. I'm going skiing in 2 weeks so will give it a good try out then. I wanted a screen because if I go skiing and it isn't quite set up at the right angle, I wouldn't know until I get home and would be a bit annoyed if I had spent the whole week filming the sky......
With regards to the mounts, if you give the joints where they attach together a rub with some wet and dry paper it give it a much better key and hold together a lot better. All the GoPro mounts fit it anyway if you wanted to buy those instead. It films 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps
I might not use it a lot and didn't want to spend £xxx on a GoPro to sit in the drawer. When compared to the equivalent GoPro it was a no brainer for me
