Jake*
-
One word...
Lovely.
What's it like to drive?
-
Thanks.
Not too bad Tbh, it's on hr springs so a little stiffer.
Plans are poss some 19" speed lines
-
Looks nice that
-
Nice, Jake!
Ideally what I'm going to upgrade the Missus car to buy a deisel one. Although I looked at a new Fr Leon tourer yesterday which was lovely
-
yeah and being 2.0tfsi it still moves :)
-
Very nice always like these.
-
Very nice Jake - Avant & 4wd too. Quite a change from a yellow Cupra!
Have you many plans for this one yet?
-
Looks great jake :happy2:
Is it Pat's old one?
-
Yeah.
I txt pat asking what model it was as I was on the look out, and well here we are, lol
It's well looked after so was a no brainer
I'm quite surprised how well it does go, although a cheeky remap my be in order for
First mod done, rns-e. The led version fitted in the dash. Plan is to just go oem plus,
I'm tempted by some 19" speed lines. But unsure the ride would be pants.
-
Here's the replacement
Audi a4 s line, avant Quattro special edition lol.

I bought the car off pat, long time member of ukmivs and a big dubber, so I knew the history.
My plans are simple, oem plus.
The cars already lowered on hr springs, so that's saved me a job.
Yesterday was the first day of mods, one day into ownership.
Rang Audi
Ordered some mats,
The led ambient light
Then fitted this.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcuprajake%2FMobile_Uploads%2FIMAG3898_zpsu8unjxa4.jpg&hash=84f7f929433638821e6982478b855f658884c957)
The latest model out of an s3 fully converted to the b7 platform, twin 32gb card drives, update maps,
Then today I ordered my wheels.
Again, probably done to death but I like them.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcuprajake%2FMobile_Uploads%2FScreenshot_2015-01-20-19-13-16_zpswuslwaje.png&hash=cc0c8f7ecd5d82381f0dddf1cdf6e48ae56deea7)
19" bbs speed lines, 8.5 et 40ish
With a view to looking like this.
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcuprajake%2FMobile_Uploads%2F4218715690_72997c118c_zpst7zf6mnm.jpg&hash=047c6e7716d2a836040da26053842746d6628cb4)
Tomorrow the cars being mapped, by the same guy who did the Leon, after such a good job on that.
I'm also looking to fit foot well lighting, and coming home lights, possibly Xenons too.
Jake

-
I'm looking at replacing the wifes car with one of these! How much did it set you back dude? :happy2:

-
Looks great jake :happy2:
Is it Pat's old one?
No flys on you mate.

Well today has been productive.
First thing this morning my wheels turned up
(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8672/16188556607_9b38436b87.jpg) (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cuprajake/16188556607/)
IMAG3942 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cuprajake/16188556607/) by cuprajake1 (https://www.flickr.com/people/cuprajake/), on Flickr
So at lunch I split them,
(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7320/15754440283_5c0f4e1537.jpg) (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cuprajake/15754440283/)
IMAG3952 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cuprajake/15754440283/) by cuprajake1 (https://www.flickr.com/people/cuprajake/), on Flickr
Then set about polishing the worst rim, this would determine wether the lips get painted or polished to my surprise I got 99% of the marks out,
(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7289/16373541202_0dfbda7b07.jpg) (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cuprajake/16373541202/)

IMAG3955 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cuprajake/16188209569/) by cuprajake1 (https://www.flickr.com/people/cuprajake/), on Flickr
The centres will possibly be going same colour as the car.
Then the Vw guy turned up with my new switch.
(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7358/16372701091_f067cf6568.jpg) (https://www.flickr.com/photos/cuprajake/16372701091/)

So using the guide off here, I now have coming home lights.

The cupra used the headlight xenons for this feature and gave loads of light. So I've bought a h11 hid fog light kit, 4300k to illuminate the situation lol
One downer is the sun visors with lights in turned up the wrong colour lol
Tomorrow I'm picking up a Bluetooth unit too, to cant wait for that
Jake
-
Looking good, had one of these a couple of years ago, they are a great ride, very smooth. Then I sold it and bought an Honda S2000!!!
-
Wheels are going to look spot on,
Have you got a link to the coming home lights retrofit?
Got any pics of the sun visors Jake, Interested in selling them?
-
Pat's last mk4 lasted him years, wonder what he changed to. He certainly looked after his cars!
-
Speedline splits
Xenons, wheels and the OEM+ touches so far are spot on :happy2:
-
The coming home is easy,
Ill post a link after, it's basically a new switch and then two wires and a vagcom code,
The wheel centres have been dropped off for chemical dipping, then weekend I'm getting blue tooth added.
I nearly bought a dimming mirror and Uto lights but the harness had been hacked up
-
I picked up my centres earlier. All dipped clean ready for primer.

Jake

4300k is what I run on my Golf for main. Also I had them in my old Leon. I find they are the best for white light. So I know they ain't that blue in your pic ;)
Plus your Avant is sweet looking!
-
My htc phone camera is goosed, anything other than bright light and it gets a red/purple tinge
-
wow looks excellent

Strange day today,

Jake

Awesome Jake :happy2:
-
Cheers Nige.
Do you offer any systems for these cars? It's in need of a bit more sound.
Did a bit more on the wheels today,
Sanded the barrels as they were corroded, then put into the booth for primer then paint, went for a gun metal finish inside

Then this aft had a oem Bluetooth module fitted and coded. It's really surprising how much you miss them
Jake
-
very nice Jake :happy2:
-
one thing that has slightly bugged/worried me is the car feels quite notchy on the gear change, hard to get into first and second, well today I changed my gearbox oil, which made a slight improvement nothing drastic, so I used a guide on fine adjustment of the linkage,
what the guide doesn't show is how to get to it so:
take the gear lever off, stupid clip.. I replaced the metal clip with a hose clip after,
then you have to pull the foam out, and the ashtray with 2 8mm bolts,
push the ashtray back, there's some rubber matting, fold that back, and under it a plastic cover with 2 10mm bolts,
undo these and then you can see the linkage,
use this vid
its made a massive difference,
ive also found a few little niggles to sort to keep me busy haha
-
Hey guys
This is the oil I used, all genuine stuff from audi, fortune.
Diff and gearbox
(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8566/16435796862_de3ae19dc7.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/r3nKMY)IMAG4024 (https://flic.kr/p/r3nKMY) by cuprajake1 (https://www.flickr.com/people/57592459@N08/), on Flickr
Then I set about my heated passat washer jets, now the guides say that you have to glue these in place, which is pants and you don't
There are tabs front and back which are straight along the edge, take a soldering iron and heat the tab, then bend it forward, the heat stops it breaking,
(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8674/15814208904_d834d5e503.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/q6rXmd)IMAG4035 (https://flic.kr/p/q6rXmd) by cuprajake1 (https://www.flickr.com/people/57592459@N08/), on Flickr
(https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7351/16435795162_3c8f0ee825.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/r3nKhE)IMAG4036 (https://flic.kr/p/r3nKhE) by cuprajake1 (https://www.flickr.com/people/57592459@N08/), on Flickr
Then when you fit it to the car simply put the back in first then the tabs you've bent can be pushed in to hold the washer jet in place
Then finally I built the wheels up, torqued to 26ftlb and then tomorrow ill be getting them balanced

Jake
-
Well cars been a pita today,
Dropped the little lad off at nursery and the remote locking wont work, so change the battery and go through the rest procedure. And nothing, so using vagcom I clear the keys and then go to recode but the car won't recognise the key when the buttons pressed, at home I code the other key fine, so I'm now left wondering if the fob is a dud.
On a better note I've ordered 5mm front spacers and 15mm rear both hubbcentric with longer bolts and lockers, unforeseen but not too bad.
Jake
-
Sounds a good touch with spacers. As for your fob, my guess it'll be the fob too? my old Leon had the same issue.
-
i thought i recognised those wheels they were lammy's weren't they?
some nice touches to the car makes a big difference
-
The spacers arrived just after lunch
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fcuprajake%2FMobile_Uploads%2FIMAG4056_zpsetxrikka.jpg&hash=6bf9018b708c7d32289d04f281b114196fd5cca3)
So chucked the wheels on,

They really suit the car, so happy with them.
My kufatech harnesses came too so the Xenons will go in on Sat.
Then just a few minor bits like the foot well lights and door lights to fit.
Also got the remote locking working on the fob again.

Still need to do the two repair wires but the lights have coded in ok.
One how ever is yellowing. So hope it's just the bulb, not ballast. More honest eBay sellers.

No problem with the photos now - good progress being made

The other day, randomly as I dropped the little lad at nursery, my remote locking stopped working, thought it was the remote battery, changed it and still nothing.
With vagcom you can recode keys, turns out the ecu could see my spare remote, but not the one I use day to day, both still start the car.
So ordered a used remote off the bay, 22.50 haha same frequency. Tried to code it to the car and worked immediately. Result.
Then today I Tried to do my door puddle and warning lights at dinner, started on the drivers door,
I was a little wary as I don't know how to do the footwell lights as the module seems to be missing the plug.
So I made my own harness and tapped into the plug, earth pin and the the feed.

Then you have to notch out the bottom of the card, used a air stone and drill.
(https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8668/16308082457_3f4d13fc14.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/qR6bKt)IMAG4094 (https://flic.kr/p/qR6bKt) by cuprajake1 (https://www.flickr.com/people/57592459@N08/), on Flickr
Then refitted the door card,
And
Nothing,
You then have to reset the module, you do this by taking the passages kick panel off then disconnect the black plug furthest away, it resets the control module, which turns features off when it doesn't sense a feed back
Then we have

Just another 3 to do now.
