Title: Looking for a few answers on coilovers.
Post by: paulmk5gti on January 19, 2015, 09:28:59 am
Anyone have any Ideas on what coilovers to get. Basically the car is a 2006 gti with 4wd running gear. I didn't want to buy a R32 kit as the 3.2 engine is quite heavy. And maybe the spring rates would be wrong.  All ideas welcome

Start by having a look through the modification's catalogue;

Once you get a flavour of what brand you fancy, maybe worth dropping one of the manufacturers directly to see if you can mix and match some springs and dampers. I'd of guessed that the 4wd shouldn't cause too much of an issue and perhaps normal GTI dampers with slightly stiffer springs (to deal with the extra 100kg+ you have).

I'm interested to know what you end up doing, as 4wd conversions seem to be getting more popular as parts become available from scrapped cars.

I'd be looking into BC, they seem to be extremely well made, fully damping and rebound adjustable and you can specify the spring rates that you want when ordering. They also come with camber adjustable top mounts as standard :wink:
