Title: GT TDi 170 Noise
Post by: vonnell on January 19, 2015, 01:20:18 pm
Hi all, new to the forum, and I'm starting with a moan!

I'm not complaining about rattling tappets, or anything specific.

But.... Just bought a 58 plate Diesel 170, 61k and mechanically good.  The extent of the tractor-like engine noise surprises me, however.

To the people who've fitted an exhaust to such a car.. Is it worth it, or does the four pot common rail rattle dominate?

CR170 only appeared in the mk6 Golf GTD, AFAIK. Yours is a PD170 so it can rattle a bit. Does it change the noise when you press the clutch pedal?

Hmm.. yep, one of the latest old models. No difference when I press the clutch, just its natural sound I guess.
