Hi
Just wondering if i have to do soemthing to turn on auto windscreen wipers on my GTi? Not sure if i there's a mode to put it in or if it does it by itself?
Thanks

Flick your wiper stalk up one notch, then use the top switch to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor.
It seems to need reset every time you get back in the car.
-
So is this the setting for only when it rains they will activate? Not what you get on normal 'auto' windsreen car's
Do all MK5 gti 07- have auto windscreen wipers sensor's?
-
Al UK spec GTI's have it, it is a box behind your interior mirror. The sensor is inside a metal frame bonded to the window.

A word of warning - they're rubbish! They wipe when they don't need to and don't wipe when you have water on the screen! :fighting:

mine works how it should.....

3 Mk5 platform cars now and they all have worked wonderfully :booty:

Mine is not great either. When I get in the car there could be water on the screen and I have to flick the little switch to get them going. Saying that I scanned the car with vcds and it said I have an intermittent fault with the controller stalk so will replace it when I'm adding cruise

I find mine very annoying as well, particularly at lower speeds / lighter rain they can't get it right. I quite often resort to just flicking the stalk down when I want them done.

Mine works perfectly on both our mk5's, you think the auto wipers are bad on vw try a Renault  and the reason why they reset everytime you get back in the car and start engine is because you wouldn't want the auto wiper to kick straight in on a cold morning over a frosty screen now would you otherwise you would need to remember to turn auto mode off everytime you got out of the car :congrats: clever little system, good old vw thought of everything

you can adjust the sensitivity in vagcom and enable rain closing if u have the right modules
