Post by: golfgti10 on January 21, 2015, 10:59:59 am
im thinking of getting a valeting company to restore my headlights, as the plastic has gone funny, just wondering if this could effect the beam pattern for the m.o.t or is this a stupid question

Faded headlight lenses can effect light output and scatter light, I've seen it give advisories on MOT but not fail.

Having nice clear headlights looks better and gives you better light output .  :happy2:

Only if they knock the light whilst doing it. Not likely though!

My next point would be to do it yourself. You can get those kits for headlight restoration and they're very easy to use. Roughly £15

It'll be fine, they're cleaning the outside plastic cover. If anything it'll give you better visibility.

If you find afterwards that your beam line is out of whack they can be manually fixed in 2 seconds. Don't worry about it!
