Hi guys just looking for a rough price I could quickly sell my car for. She has a few faults that I dont have the time to fix as I already have a new car.
Its a 2005 5dr GTI in diamond black pearl. Has sunroof, xenon's, DSG, heated leather interior, high line display plus all the usual spec.
105k miles FSH
7 months MOT
Wheels are 18" satin black gallardo reps wrapped with vredestein ultrac sessanta's with good tread
Bad points
Brake discs and pads needed all round
Have abs esp fault lights come on after a few minutes of driving above 40mph (I attach picture of fault lights)
Other than that the engine runs sweet, changed the pcv a couple of months ago along with cam follower and also has GFB DV+ fitted so no maintenance needed there.
I apologise if this should be in the for sale section but I have no idea what to sell for so just after some offers mainly or what a fair price I should put it up as.

It depends what the problem is tbh, if it's something simple then you won't lose much money but if it could be a real PITA then you will.
I would have thought about £5250ish for a quick sale as is?

£5250?
Id say around 3500.

£3,500 is a bit low in my oppinion! Id have thought 4-4.5k for quick sale as she is!
Can you not bang it on we buy any car website and errrrr not mention the fault :congrats:
-
Can you not get someone to scan the faults for you? Might be a simple fix that would make a huge difference in the price you can ask.
-
Tbh the fault lights never used to come up and then when it did pop up it didn't come on again for a long time, then it uses to only come on in the wet above 50mph, now it comes on every journey so it's something that has got worse over time. Judging by all that I have a feeling it could be corroded wires to the sensor or faulty/dirty sensor.
But as I said I have no interest fixing it myself as I'm in the process of moving house so all my attention is to that. I'd be happy around the 4k mark
Thanks for your guys input

I bought (from a dealer) a faultless 55 plate 95K miles, 1 owner, full VW SH with cambelt and water pump done for £4200 a few months back. £5250 is WAY overpriced, with the faults, 3500 is probably a bit high!

Does it have 5 doors? Sunroof, xenon's and heated leather interior? Lol
Tbh I think I'll put her up for £3500
Given the spec it has I'm sure an enthusiast wouldn't mind a bargain and take it under their wing
-
I'm supposed tbh, maybe £5250 is a bit high but I've seen base spec cars with similar mileage and no faults got for 5k+
If it's a big problem then I can see the price dropping a lot but If its a just a few hundred ££'s to fix then its probably worth getting it done yourself. Even still I thought it'd be worth at least 4k
Tbf I havent had a decent look at MK5 GTI prices for a while but Im surprised how little its worth.

A nice clean fault free, good spec gti with approx 100k should fetch around 5000.
I'm guessing it wants an abs sensor and wheel bearing or abs pump repair. Surely worth sorting out before you sell, a fault free car is worth a lot more

Where in the country are you ??

My fully speccd 1 owner 08plate 3 door GTI was only £3700 from a private sale but it has high mileage at 168k although a full and comprehensive service history and wingbacks/highline/18monzas etc!
For a 100k+ 05 Plate with issues I wouldnt want to pay anything like £5250!

I paid nearly double that for my 1 owner fully loaded 2008 Gti 6 months ago but them mine has 100k less miles and is preety much stunning condition throughout, people advertise everything as the favourite word "Mint" and they very rarely are tidy as they say they are although im a fussy bugger having previously owned near concourse cars so takes alot to impress me now :sad1:
Any tidy decent specced mk5 Gti with normal ish mileage for its year and good history is always going to sell for good money.
I still think this is a 4k+ car if its tidy and nearer 5k if you sort that fault out
:happy2:
