Title: Best brakes that fit 17" wheel?
Post by: Erno on January 24, 2015, 05:16:27 pm
I have to buy new discs and pads for my Skoda Octavia vRS this spring and I´m thinking of upgrading my brakes at the same time. My winter tyres are on a 17" wheels and I´m thinking of buying 17" track tyres as well. I want better, lighter and cost-effective brakes.

So what kind on choices do I have? What brakes have the best bang for my buck? Is there a better alternative for NQSBBK in my situation?

The NQSBBK is the way to go for your situation. You've still got the power of the 4pots but maintain the ability to fit smaller wheels. You may have to use spacers depending on your wheels though.

Otherwise the R32 setup fits behind a lot of 17" wheels but is close and may not fit all, also they're very heavy and won't be as good as the NQSBBK.

Thanks for the quick reply. :drinking:

Original rear brakes are a good match I presume. HEL brakelines are on the shopping list also. How about discs and pads? It seems that everybody that are selling brake discs and pads in Finland is selling EBC. EBC Blade Sports look nice but has anyone tested them? Don´t want to waste money by buying crap that needs to be replaced...

Nqsbbk is very good for the money, combine them with some good pads & you got a winner :happy2:

I don't know what discs and pads are best since I haven't had the kit myself but I've had 3 sets of discs from MTEC and theyre very good for the money (don't know of they ship to Finland) and I know they make 312mm discs which go with the kit.

Pad wise there's lots of choices, stick with Pagid/ Ferodo/ Brembo and you can't really go wrong.

How about Stoptech brakes? Are they better than NQSBBK and how about their maintenance, like replacement discs and pads?
