Title: Grease on inside of my front right wheel
Post by: ryangerry on January 25, 2015, 03:11:10 pm
Just noticed while cleaning my ED30 grease on the inside of the front right wheel all the way round. Also that there's a really loud knock when I go over any sort of bump only on the front right side, it's on coilovers so it's pretty low but it doesn't sound right and now the grease im wondering what it could be???

black grease ? CV boot split and by the sound of it a dry CV joint that may be damaged due to no grease

As above sounds like you have a cv boot split

Cool cheers gus just put full lock on and reached around and felt at the rear and my fingers are caked in black grease. Any idea of the cost to replace?

Parts are about £25 and labour shouldn't be more that an hour I believe. Had mine done a few months ago.

I would use VW parts , after market cv boots don't last long you'll end up changing it every year or so , I know I've done it before :ashamed: , VW boots are hard more like plastic than rubber and more cash no doubt but cheaper in the long run

As above, definitely go with VW boots for longevity  :happy2:

If it's a manual look at item 22 the outer is more common to fail!
