Title: Edition 30 BBS Pescara wheel refurbishment
Post by: AmaratD on January 26, 2015, 12:01:42 pm
Hi all,

Im a newbie on here, recently picked up my Edition 30.

I have just been quoted £550 for full refurbishment of all 4 wheels as they are in pretty bad state.

I was told as they are special coated wheels they are more expensive to refurbish.

Can anyone guide me to a recommended refurb company?

All help would be appreciated :)

That sounds a bit dodgy to me! I recently paid £220 to have all four of my 18's powdercoated. I don't think the Pescara's have a 'special finish'

Usually you should be looking at about £60 a wheel.

I live in a small village caled Burnham just outside of slough and the company AutoWeks is based in slough trading estate.

They requested my wheels for 3 days as well even though their website states maximum 2 days.

They told me the edition 30 wheels are special edition wheels therefore is not a straight forward refurb and would require a special coat which makes the job expensive.

Thanks for your reply Hedge.

I have since just browsed the previous forums and read about this company mywheels.

How do they compare with silverline wheels and wheels specialists?

Lepsons in Kent, The pescara has got a slightly different finish as its not a standard silver. Older posts on here will reveal the paint code was/is very hard to come by.

To get a colour match they have to be wet painted not powder coated.

I've spoke to 3 different places and all said the same thing. Hence the price.  :happy2:

+1 for MyAlloys who refurbed by BBS VZ's from the Bristol branch, great service and they fitted all 4 tyres for a tenner beer money.

Did you get your wheels refurbed. I was unfortunate and struck the kerb yesterday in my edition 30. I'm from Slough and I spoke to VW who recommended Autowerks.

Just my 2 cents ,I have used several wheel companies and to be fair Lepsons  are in my mind the best, as above they collect and return within a week and will do a really proper job I have found cheaper but you tend to get what you pay for

I used Autowerks on my mkiv in 2011 (I think), and they had a lot of hype at the time on the DetailingWorld forum.
I found they were expensive, and quality of work was very average. Lots of particulates in my powdercoated then painted wheels. Work was nothing like on the Ferrari that was on the forums...
