Hi there. I'm fairly new to the mk5 game. I bought a GTI before Christmas. So far so good with it but I'm having an issue with my locks.
Both rear doors wearnt locking so I bought 2 new motors off eBay. I fitted them on Saturday and the drivers side rear door now locks and unlocks. But the passenger rear locks and won't unlock. The motor makes noise like it's trying to open but it won't. So I reckoned it was a faulty motor. So I got the company to send me another one. It arrived today I fitted it after work and it's doing the same thing.
The question is have I received 2 dodgey motors or is there something else wrong that I'm missing? If I plug it into vagcom could that help?
Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi. Another thing you can check is the door wiring loom between the door and pillar as there could be a broken wire inside the rubber boot

I must check that. I was told plugging it into vag com can tell my if there is a connection broken.

Unfortunately a very common fault with the MK5. Every MK5 i have owned, i have had to change the locks at some stage.
One of my doors is completely closed and wont open from the inside or outside. Just bought a new locking mechanism, lets hope the mechanic can get the door open first

Just to add to this issue I have since realised that the speaker in the same door isn't working. Could just be a coincidence or there could be a broken wire. Is the most likely place in the rubber boot in the door? If I get it on vagcom will it tell you where there is communication issues I.e a broken wire?

I'm not sure if vagcom will tell you as I have not used it myself but if you pull the rubber boot back and have a visual inspection you will know for sure :happy2:

Yep Tappy is right. Pull the rubber boot and you'll be able to see the wires. I had this issue and my door wouldn't open
