Title: Milltek Time
Post by: djk112 on December 15, 2008, 03:33:40 pm
Im in the process of ordering me a nice shiney milltek cat back for my GTi (not ED30)!! But which one do I go for the ED 30 or standard GTi (obviously non res )

If any of you guys or gals have any pics of either for me to look at that would help my decision.

yeh, TBH even without asking they offered about £500 off the Ti , it is very light compared to mine, but then again i like a bit of weight to it, i was going for the calibre17 but i found it all a bit too fussy so got this instead

Yes it does, not massively but it's definitely feel more lively  :xmaslaugh:

As for the noise I am so glad I went for the non-res, had to take a detour on the way home to go under the longest bridge I could find

Cant wait for my non res milly on tuesday aswell steveP, have you noticed much change in sound in the cabin?? or can you hear a big change with the window down??

^^^ You won't be disappointed Steve  :happy2:

Yes there is a noticeable difference at certain engine loads and when your really pushing on you very much know but it (but in a LOL smiley on your face good way  :driver:)

Also the blip sound between the DSG gear changes sounds even better too

Even the guys who fitted it for me said non-res was the right choice after trying to convince me otherwise  :happy2:

I am considering a Milltek as I had one on my Octy vRS briefly but first a couple of questions.

On a cat-back system would resonated be noticably quieter than standard and on the flip side to that with a standard cat would a non-res be significantly louder?
I quite like the standard Edition 30 exhaust but feel it could be a touch crisper at times.

Fitted the Milltek last night. First impressions from inside the car is that at low revs its not alot louder than stock but when you press the loud pedal it really does sound nice but not over the top.

Pics will be on there way soon peeps  :happy2:

I quite like the standard Edition 30 exhaust but feel it could be a touch crisper at times.

From what I have been told about the res it will as quiet as the stock system (if not a little quieter from some reports) at idle and low revs/load and a bit louder at full load. Where as I am finding the non-res a little louder at idle/low load and much louder when pushing on but not too much.

The company that fitted mine recommended the res to start with but after they test drove mine even they agreed non-res was the right choice  :happy2:
Title: Re: Milltek Time

non resonated all the way  :drinking:
Title: Re: Milltek Time
Post by: GTIjames on December 22, 2008, 04:43:55 pm
I was meant to have the resonated fitted on mine when I had the full sytem including the down pipe done.

Though the noise is certianly alot louder than stock in all situations.

So either I was 'had' by the chap who fitted as I know the resonated is more expensive, or the combo of resonated and sports down pipe makes it alot noisier than stock.

any way of checking whether you have res or non fitted?

this is just my opinion but turbo back best is resonated , cat back best is non resonated  :happy2: you can easily tell which you got cause the box in front of the rear wheel on a non res wont be their !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :happy2:
