Title: Mk5 Stealth subwoofer enclosure
Post by: Jarre on January 29, 2015, 11:11:53 pm
Hi,

I recently purchased a subwoofer enclosure suitable for mk5/6 on the passenger side wheel arch.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK5-MK6-Custom-Fit-MDF-10-Sub-Box-Subwoofer-Enclosure-Bass-MKV-MKVI-/370799663953?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item565561db51

I believe it requires a 'slight modification to the boot carpet' to fit, is anyone able to advise what this is or link me to somewhere that explains it? I can't find any instructions at all.

Cheers!

I have the same box it was a PITA to fit.

I cut off the car seat tether. Drilled some holes in the box and used cable ties to secure it in place. Sealed the holes with silicone. But it still did not fit well.

Well, I decided to buy an enclosure from visual ice, the quality is excellent, I'm really impressed! Fitting is so much better than the cheaper one, too.

My amp is under the passenger seat leaving the boot looking tidy :)

Off topic slightly, where are you guys taking your ignition live from for the remote wire, Dazza mentioned a fuse box job but is there any other, behind the stereo perhaps?

Mine is on the interior fuse box using a piggy back/ add a circuit fuse holder. That's the safest way to do it. See link below (may not be the cheapest price)

yep that's what dazza recommended. Can you show me which fuse you used? I assume its the fuse box in the drivers side dash.

Yeah the drivers side fuse box. The one I used was fuse number 2 (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ftapatalk.imageshack.com%2Fv2%2F15%2F02%2F25%2Ff748091ab6ef4d086626f9fd7cd7c247.jpg&hash=53c345cd3397f2f91fc61c92a2c19bec19aa7f38)

Indeed, gutted I wasted the money on the other enclosure though!

This 10" vibe slick s10 and vibe slick bass 1 amp sounds so much better than the vibe slr12 active subwoofer I had in before. The bass is so much more refine. Over the moon with it to be honest!

@Jarre (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6783) just to be sure is it a mini fuse holder I need?
Thanks
