Hi all,
I have used the search engine at the top and have not been able to locate a lot of information regarding DSG dual mass flywheel rattle.
It seems to rattle on when idle in park or neutral or when switching the engine off. It does not rattle in drive or reverse.
Anyone with similar problems? How much would it cost to be rectified?
Do we need to change the clutch aswell when replacing the flywheel?
Thanks
MAH

Anyone with a dsg who may have had the flywheel rattle before?

I had the same problem you'll need to change it 235 quid from carparts4less is the cheapest place I found to buy then I got a garage to fit for 200 or for peace of mind darkside developments can supply and fit for around 588 quid

Cheers bud. Do you have a link for the exact flywheel. My engine is the BKD one and 2005 DSG. Did you get your clutch changed aswell at the same time?
-
It's showing as £287 for my car plus I have to buy the bolts
-
Mine is dsg no need for clutch
-
Just checked the price must have gone up in the last fortnight
-
Showed my mechanic and he confirmed it's definetly the flywheel.
Have you had any issues after replacing it with the LUK flywheel?
-
Bro i think mine may be on its way out as well. Ill link up with you and have a look if you want.
-
Yeah bruv, let me know when your back and we'll hook up
I heard this is a common failure on these cars especially pre 2008 DSG's
-
How hard is it to change the flywheel on one of these?
-
No issues at all but with it being a dsg you need someone trustworthy due to the expensive repair cost of a dsg box
-
Seen as its gone up to 287 might as well get it from eurocarparts
