Im picking up my new car next week (08 plate Candy ed30) and want to order up some car care products up front. Can anyone recommend the best polishes/ waxes for the candy white paintwork and also for BBS CH alloys.
Tar removal products might also be handy !!
Thanks
Kevin

i'm sure the pro's will list their recommendations shortly, i've tried a few on mine now and still my favourite is Purple Haze by Dodo, the way is pops on the curves  next favourite would be supernatural :happy2:

Hi Kevin,
In terms of wax, we would recommend Lusso Oro - In our opinion it's a great value for money product, very easy to use and achieves excellent results. To get the best out of the wax and get the car looking it's best we'd suggest to pre-wax the paint with Revitalising Creme before you apply the wax. This just gets the paintwork completely clean and prepares the paint in the best possible way for the wax to bond when you apply it.

For wheels we'd recommend Rimwax - again, a great product, very easy to use, and gets great long lasting results.

For tar removal, the best way is to clay the car. Not only will this get rid of the tar spots, but it will also remove other contaminents and add a real clarity to the paint work.

Very Cherry is right as well though - Purple Haze is a great all-rounder :happy2:
Hope this helps

i agree lusso is brilliant once you get it right :ashamed: you only need to use it very sparingly , i also found megs txt wax 2 very good on candy white , i have a nearly full pot of dodo juice diamond white you can have for £15 +p&p

I'd strongly recomend a sealant for White. Natural waxes struggle to get that bling porcelain shine from waxes. Something like zaino z2 will be good. Have a look at my White vag porn thread in here
-
Sorry :ashamed: Have to disagree with that. If you clay the car, prep the paintwork with a really good cleanser, and apply a descent wax, you'll get the white to really "pop" just as much as you would do with a sealant
Only our opinion
-
Everyones entitled to there opinions lol. I've jst done a side comparison on a White car once and the natural carnauba based waxes struggled to delivery the shine compared to a sealant. The shine balances with a wax such as zymol royale Or vintage but we know how much they cost (about 8k and 2k respectively)
yes, a White finish will look good with your process mentioned with a wax but I've found a sealant gives it that but extra. The same goes for silver IMHO.
And I've also found durability better with sealants. Pound for pound.
Just my two cents, it would be boring if we were all the same. It's just another opinion for the op to see. And as I'm not selling anything, it's not completely impartial.
-
You're absolutely right - the world would be boring if we were all the same!
Our recommendations are impartial though - we sell sealants too, we just don't recommend them as highly because we've found in our experience that they don't have the depth and gloss level that carnauba waxes do

i would get some bilberry for the pescara's they are a pain to clean without it

I was at show a few weeks ago and there was a guy there with Candy white ED30 who frequents here, his car was in the show&shine and he used a new product called angelwax on it I liked the finish on it so much I now stock it. Given my car the treatment and is the same if not better than DJ. If you read Auto Express you will see it only missed out on 5 stars as it did not have applicators and mf cloths.
wheels you can coat with Poorboys wheel sealant.
Its all in the prep though.
-
Think you may be talking about me....yeah angel wax is pretty good stuff, i had a layer of seal under that day but have since taken off and re applied the angel wax (2coats)and it beeds water like nothing else, it also gives a really deep natural looking shine...for candy white this is the way forward, plus i hear washshop is cheap too! Try and get hold off the anchem tyre shine as well, ask kieth about it, good combo with the angel wax.
-
Keith - we haven't tried Angelwax... any chance of a sample?!?!

I use the following gear on my bit of Candy; I like it to look good, but it’s only a hobby, not an addiction - honest :ashamed:
Tar removal autosmart tardis
Tar & contaminates Bilt hamber auto clay
Inside Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner
Inside Werkstat satin pro
Polish Autoglym Super resin polish
Polish Menzerna Power Finish PO203s
Polish/cleaner/sealant Werkstat Prime
Sealant Werkstat Acrylic Jett Trigger
Wheels Wekstat prime strong + collinite 476 (but will switch to FK1000P when the collinite has gone)
The Werkstat was recommended to me by JPC  its easy to apply and top up every month or so
-
Well I have ordered my angelwax tonight, but in my haste forgot to add applicators etc
Will need to give wash shop a shout to see what the best preperation methods are before applying the wax and what applicators i need tomorrow.
