Hi can someone help I'm having issues with my car 05 tfsi axx engine , the car was previously a mates who noticed the car was not running correct so instead of looking into the issue he took it to street wise bristol and had "stage 2 " revo software put on the car around 4 months ago which he says did not change the cars power! When it was mapped they ran a vag com ill try attach pics code 008567 bank 1 , system too lean off idle .. also 000256 mass air flow, supply voltage intermittent which they cleared the codes , the car has the new rev d diverter as I fitted it last week which was not needed as it already had this also new pcv by what I can see ...is there any way telling what pcv I have ? Was told it was the newer one
The car is like driving a 2.0 naturally aspirated car no pull as you'd get from a turbo .....in lower gears 3rd or 4th going slow and put your foot down you'd hear a slight (shhhh) from the turbo but no pull ... but if driven threw the gear it's as if I'm driving a standard 2.0L focus
no lights on no codes appearing on snap on diagnosis tool
I had the car up on ramps Saturday nothing looks out of place reved the car couldn't feel any air coming from any pipes ?? Does anyone have any suggestions it would be highly appreciated

Sounds like the issue i am having with my 2006 atm :/ i have looged the boost and the max is 4psi. Waiting to change the DV and then get it to the garage if its the same. Have you looked at any boost gauges/logs?
-
No logs yet but as for psi id say running same as you or maybe less I have a new diverter on mine :(
-
Yea feels like not but it's registering some....I had a problem with mine where the actuator snapped when I bought it but there was no boost at all then. Need to get mine looked at but sounds similar to your problem! Hoping a dv fixes mine. Have you tested the MAF sensor?
-
Is there a way to test the maf ? As I don't want to start spending on things I don't need , Would the maf effect the boost ?
-
Yes just unplug it and the engine will run rough and or stall if it's working as it should. Not sure if it would tbh but worth a check with the error codes you mentioned above.
-
Ah I did unplug it yesterday and the car ran no different pulled the same when I initially took the plug out the car had a lil grumble then ran and sounded normal drive the same plugged in or unplugged
-
Hmm I'd say it's dead then....have you scanned for faults again lately? Mine runs rough and stalls without the MAF. Somebody with more knowledge should be able to confirm lol
-
Simply unpliugging the MAF at idle will make no difference - it will still idle fine. Removing the MAF with it still plugged in (providing a false reading) will cause the car to stall.
I love how the answer to a car that's not 100% is "whack a map on it and clear the fault codes"!
You need VCDS logging done to see/understand what is going on. You can not rely on fault codes alone to tell you what is wrong with the car
-
I no my mate who had the car before had 80k inheritance so thought it would be easier to chuck another 600 quid at it plus fit a new exhaust lol and when that didn't sort it sold it to me for a fraction of what he paid ... but I'm now on a Misson to sort it out
-
That's the one thanks Dan!
Get some codes read and hopefully a cheap fix for you
-
Don't know if this helps you but had mine looked at today and it's the actuator that has snapped...great! 2nd time in 5 months.....
-
Ah ok and what symtoms did you have dude ? So far I have a brand new diverter , tried a known working maf , I have a new pcv but no codes atall car would easily do 100 mph but no / minimal boost
-
No other symptoms except no power. It will get upto decent speeds just takes a while lol. No error codes or lights. Just had to get underneath and see that it wasn't attached
-
I shall be getting back under asap ! Can you buy new uprated actuators atall ?
-
Yea there is a heat shield to come off just 2 bolts then you will be able to check. You can get a forge one that I've seen but it's still a turbo off job.... I've been looking at recons or low mileage turbos
-
You sort your problem out? Got mine sorted with a turbo change :sad1:
-
im sure I read somewhere on the net but don't know for sure, these cars have a knock sensor which when faulty can reduce power etc or if its doing its job its there to save the engine if theres a problem, just an idea... worth looking into it.

YES !! O M G YES !!
Finally got this fixed on mine, there was no fault code/check light on generic tools, i did a scan with vagcom and it showed up knock sensor. I then confirmed this with a bluetooth odb11 tool and torque. She was pulling timings as the revs went up, but boost stayed high.
It's a nightmare to get to, i pray it's not the answer to yours....
-
Wahoo, I hope it's not to expensive for ya and not to much of a bugger to sort out, fingers crossed once it's replaced it will fix your problem :-)

I had a similar problem on my edition 30. The pipe that goes on to my turbo had a hairline split init. It was very hard to spot until I took it off and forensically examined it!
