Title: Intermittent wiper problem. HELP!
Post by: Sjw_Vw on February 06, 2015, 10:13:16 pm
As above really. I have a 2.0 Tdi Sport 140 Jetta and for a while now my wipers will only work when switched on fully. It has auto wipers which used to work, then one day they just stopped!

Had it on Vag - Com, and no error codes etc. Should I check the fuse? Also what else could it be.

Thanks for reading :)

I could be wrong but I'm inclined to believe it's the wiper stalk.

I've had a faulty wiper for yearsssssss now.

I'm not sure of the fault code but it says intermittent wiper fault. I've been told the stalk is at fault but the only thing that's wrong with it is its timing on the selector/rocker switch.

It'll last a bit longer  :innocent:

Had the wind screen replaced? The rain sensor on the screen could be faulty or not been replaced along with a new screen and this is another common reason for the wipers to fail on auto.

I would be inclined to say the stalk as well, have you had it scanned with VCDS?

Cheers for the replies :).

I haven't had the windscreen replaced, but I had the rear view mirror and surround replaced as it fell off(completely forgot about that and never thought!). I had it scanned with VCDS a while ago, but nothing came up. I'll try and get it done again :).
