Title: Bit of help please
Post by: subaru26675 on November 25, 2009, 05:26:14 pm
As some of you know, i am off to pick up my edition 30 next week. I have just been reading a post about BBS CH alloy wheels and am no longer certain the car i am looking at has genuine bbs wheels as advertised or if they are reps.
This is the advert, if you save the photo of the close up of the wheel to your computer you can see it full size.
Hopefully someone can tell if they are genuine or copies

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Hi, Kevin.

Not sure if you're asking this but they are not the wheels that an Ed30 is supplied with. I don't know if those are genuine BBS, but they're quite similar in appearance to the OEM alloys so I wonder why the vendor changed them??

The wheels are 19" and i've never seen a set of 19" bbs ch reps. I've seen 18s but never 19s

So am i safe to assume that there are no 19" BBS CH replicas on the go at the moment ?
Hopefully they are the real deal  :happy2:

If you give Phil a shout here      sales@pwmotorsport.com  or send him a PM he will probably be able to tell you if they are or not.
Eveen if they do turn out to be reps dont panic just get the deal almost complete then tell him you have spotted they are reps and you would like some more money off the deal to compensate.

You could probably sell them as reps and still get enough back to by some VZ's  :happy2:

If they are genuine and he originally bought them he should have the original receipts and BBS guarantee with them.

It's hard to tell from the Pisonheads photo  :rolleye:

The genuine ones seem to have BBS stamped on the rim, on the far opposite side of the tyre valve  ... but I can't read this on the photo, theres something there though, whereas the copies don't seem to have anything stamped there

I note the Pistonheads ad says £1600 new (wheels negotiable)

Yes the wheels were negotiable but have taken them instead of the originals (might buy originals off him when i am there for running in the winter).
So looks like the wheels are the real thing, will speak to him tomorrow about it
Just needing to get the car home now, waiting is not one of my strengths

Hopefully all goes well and i can get up some nice pics once it has had a good shine up.  :jumping:

Kev.

To be honest Kev there is nothing wrong with the orginal edition 30 alloys.I put some on my ''standard'' GTI.
