Could anyone tell me if this stereo is a standard one and if it is a satnav it's touchscreen has a sd card slot in the front and holds 6 CDs but there is no booklet with it

Yes there's a few different ways of making it work.
Look in the Traders for sale section and contact the sellers there they have the different option.

It's not the one in the link it isn't dab radio so might be a lesser model I have found out its a blarplunk

It's deffo an rcd 510 but they do dab and non dab versions I put one in my old mk5 gti there 6 disc MP3 and you can play MP3 direct from the memory card in the front saves messing about with ipod and iTunes etc
Don't suppose that's in a blue 3 door gti dsg is it 05 plate I left a blue memory card in mine as well lol
