Removed the dipstick to check my PCV today as the cars been quite rough on idle.
When I removed the dipstick it didnt splutter as it should and theres was a sound of air rushing out, is a tell tale sign?
Cheers

I find best bet is take oil filler cap off a tiny bit, if it feels like the engine can suck it back on then it's a pretty good bet it's gone.
-
I've ordered a new one anyway, I highly doubt mines been changed
-
Do you have the part number for the latest PCV revision?
Kind Regards
-
I dont I bought the revision n off here.
Might be worth ringing VW as I some need different versions.

Have you considered PCV delete?

Heard some mixed reviews on here mate, someone's said that vw racing use oem PCV aswell, if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me lol

If it helps I've just rang VW and the latest part is 06F129101R and 06F103483E for the gasket. VW wanted £38.82 and £21.04 including the VAT. Waiting for a call back from Trade Parts Specialists for their price as my PCV is likely goosed.
Helpful chap from VagTech in Milton Keynes who stock the Revo PCV delete said it really isn't worth doing the delete unless you have a decent state of tune. For the standard spec he recommended keeping with the latest VW versions at half or less of the price.

I done this and it sucked the cap back on... Then I checked the dipstick and the engine spluttered... I'm now confused haha!

I don't know if that's true.. I run a volvo and the test to see if the PCV is gone involves running the engine and putting a rubber glove over the oil cap; the glove should be sucked down slightly. If it inflates at all, the PCV system is clogged/nackered!
If you think about it, you want negative pressure (vacuum) inside the crankcase so that the fumes are sucked OUT of the engine. Positive pressure is a bad thing, especially for oil seals, etc!

I removed my PCV delete last week after it became blocked and chucked plooms of smoke out of the exhaust and forced oil out of the filler cap :sad1:

It's funny you should say that, literally 5 minutes ago I've just had to top my oil up and top of the engine was covered in oil.
Which bit blocked up?
