So I've had my GTI a week and I've been impressed with it's power and general drive.
The idle was rough so ordered a PCV from VW, and thought I may as well do the DV at the same time (for the sake of £40)
Removed the old one and was greeted with this :)

Anyway PCV fixed the idle, and now with a new DV the thing is even better! I didn't noticed a massive difference at first, but then when I dropped it down a few cogs to over take earlier it was a very nice surprise :)
Also stuck a Pipercross panel filter in for good measure :)

Good to hear it's back on form

I bet there are hundreds of GTIs down on power because the owners are non the wiser :surprised:
Glad you got it sorted Phil :happy2:

Yep exactly what i thought after i changed mine and saw huge difference
Must be loads of slow GTI's out there
-
Mine is a bit jumpy on idle too, I think I'm gonna do the same...
-
It's all thanks to this Forum, without it I'd not have fixed it this quick :)
Need to curb my spending now...getting a little carried away :)
-
You would only spend it on something else...

I've never checked mine...now next job on the list, sometimes turbo seems to kick in slightly different to others, wondering if this is why!
-
Well I have gave up trying to get the bolts out the old one there is no space at all think I will have to get it to a garage haha

I used a long reach 5mm allen drive with a 10mm ratchet spanner over the end of it.
Without a huge selection of tools I can imagine it's quite awkward. I still had to squeeze between the hub and arch though, got stuck a couple of times :)
-
That's where I went wrong I was trying from underneath
-
I had the wheel off and accessed it from the side...it is a bit of a squeeze, but got there in the end.

Has anyone got a part number for the latest dv Rev d? Or a link?

When I rang VW the parts guy said I needed a "D", I asked for a "G", took a bit of chat to convince him I knew what one I wanted even though it was not listed for my '55' Car ;)
