What a f*cking numpty people like that are dangers to other road users!
Out of intrest how old was he?
-
Can you report them? Takes the piss someones attitude towards if not their own then others safety on the road.
-
Wow what a moron. I know I drive too fast but people like this are far more dangerous, his negligence could have easily caused a huge accident.
-
He was in is 20's
-
That's shocking!
I'm assuming the car was a wreck too?

it was a 57plate kia

What were the rest of the tyres like Andy? :surprised:
-
The 2 fronts were like this and the backs were on 1.6mm

If peeps get stopped by the police with tyres in this condition is it an instant fine and/or points?
Should get a seperate fine for every illegal tyre IMO.

Think it's 3points for every tire
-
Yeh I think its 3 points and £60 per infraction, so 4 f*cked tyres = £240 and no more licence
-
Natural selection process right there
-
Did you refuse to put the tube in?
I'm almost certain you have a duty of care in this regard.
You help him out and he then goes off and kills someone, wouldn't you be in the dock for contributory negligence?

If he kills himself he's a twat but the problem is what about his passengers and other road users? We're all at risk from the stupidity of people like this, risking lives for the sake of a few quid, wankers.

When I was working outside my parents house tonight a guy in a van delivering wine stopped to ask directions. I had a look at his tyres and they were practically bald :scared:
I told the guy they were illegal and his answer was "not my van" :stupid:
-
sold the customer new tyres in the end after a I told him
-
Good stuff.
I think the answer to the thread title is that people very commonly never look at their car until either something goes wrong or it fails the mot.

I refused to drive the works van because of the tyres, I'm not having points on my license because it wasn't maintained.

I found a car early on in my Police Career , a Lancia sports car with four tyres worse than the one pictured . I spoke to the woman and drove it myself to the nearest tyre retailer who put four new tyres on it straight away . No fine , no points , just strong words of advice .
People should report all defective vehicles to the authorities , it could be your family member killed by your failure to do so .
It should be part of being a responsible member of society , now with no tax discs cars do not stand out as being neglected straight away . If you saw a car with no tax disc you looked a bit further .... Now you have to check a computer to see , guess what , very few will be checked ...

In cases like this would it not be worth making a phone call to the police if he refuses to put new ones on?
