Title: Car not passing MOT
Post by: Homer on February 21, 2015, 05:35:09 pm
Hi folks, so I have the Eurojet downpipe fitted to the MK5, I had bought a Eurojet sports cat but didn't have this fitted at the time. Anyway the car although passing it MOT last time round didn't this time due to emissions plus I have been told that a Cat of some sort needs to be visible on the car, new regulations apparently. So my question is if the Sports Cat is fitted will that be enough for the car to pass? That was the only thing it failed on. thanks for your help.

It should do yes.
Csnt see why one would have to be visible?msurelymit would fail emissions if it wasn't there?

I know with diesels there has to be a DPF (I think it is) present.

No visible cat is an MOT fail. As AndyBrown says, surely if you've got a decat then you'll fail straight away on emissions anyway?

Most sports cat 200 cel or more should pass the mot. Sometimes the 100 cel sports cats fail
Just make sure you take the car for a good drive before the mot to get the cat up to operating temperature.

My old GTI passed it's MOT with a decat (gutted the cat rather than replaced with straight pipe though), just needed a good revving during the emissions testing.
