Still can't understand why the remap is like £1500 on them.

1200 for revo.... I agree its expensive but no many people are mapping them so you are kind of limited.

Is that just remap, or is there a bit of hardware for the pulley too?

One at the dyno we had did like 450?? Revo map smaller pulley and intake..wow!

Dsg only...good as manual a4s have horrible pedal position for performance driving (imo).
Nice cars though

S4 b8 defo on the list.

Pulley is an extra 50 quid i think.... they call that Stage 1+. Thats the one youd go for really  :driver:

Also, Pendle Performance, Mikko @ Shark and do R-Tec map them?

I have looked into this as I am getting one next. I dont have the balls to get a B7 RS4 as would want to do supercharger upgrade which is too much wonga

boooo, that may expalin why they have not returned my call!

The problem with these is you really want a revision model which only came out on the 12 plate (maybe some Jan/Feb 61 plates too) as they have the flat botton sterring wheel, look better on the outside and are more economical. So looking at £25k+ still for one (avant)

I drove the one that dyno'd at 470hp at SRR.

Feck me it was fast and scary fast in a very linear way that didn't feel fast until you looked at the speedo. :driver:

I would love one but not sure if my pockets are deep enough to run one.

not that bad on fuel Ian if you get a 12 plate onwards? Not like running a v8 surely

My brother had one for a few years, the usual REVO stage 1 and Milly TBE and f*ck me it was EPIC, he has recently got a spanking new S4 Avant Black Edition and that's a whole other level (in my experience from driving both).

The old one (we like red).

Dont suppose he said which map he would opt for?

Been told to steer clear of Revo and APR on this and go with either MRC, Shark (only if Mikko is the man doing it) or Pendle Performance (if Martin is doing it) They will offer true bespoke maps with live logging

To be fair the car had just been on the dyno and my driving wasn't sympathetic with good fuel economy.

Having run a V8 S6 as a daily there is no way it can be that bad.

I have one - its fantastic.

Its like a GTI but bigger - Seriously.  I went from a mk5 GTI to a S3 then this.  The S4 has the same ability that the GTI had to be a mild mannered family wagon or a nutter depending on your mood.  The S3 was just dull.  Technically very good but no soul at all.

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fdd328%2Fub7rm%2F6B504AF2-57CA-4159-AB59-E5469B542028.jpg&hash=addf69bfbe3832be68386c332cc2c2652c3d868c)

Over its first 4000 miles the average MPG is 27 mpg.  You can easily crack 30 on a longer journey with no town traffic and a bit of spireted driving will see low twenties.

Power delivery is very linear.  From a standing start the acceleration is brutal, but oddly it doesn't feel as fast if you put your foot down when rolling along - but the speedo moves plenty quick - it can be a shock sometimes to see how fast you're actually going.  Oh and the fart on upshift at full chat is mighty addictive.

Still keep an  eye on whats happening here from time to time  :drinking:

I've decided in getting a 12-13plate s4 dsg saloon, booked my golfR into AKS to strip bk to standard...

Having a headache over who to choose for pulley & remap..either GIAC via Stattlers or Mrc...mrc quotes around 470-490ps for pulley & software(I really do think there Dyno is a bit generous)
Pulley & GIAC software quotes around 450bhp
Decisions decisions..

+1.

What a totally subtle and understated motor
A great daily cruiser with some real surprise performance for junior supercars.
